New BB Code. Way cool, man!

Okay, what this does is preview web pages. Examples I'm adding here are YouTube and CNN.

[site=youtube.com]YouTube Test[/site]

[site=cnn.com]CNN Test[/site]

To use this, you type (site=url)text(/site) using brackets instead of parenthesis, of course. Please note that you do NOT need to put in the www or http:// - just the domain.extension.

Code:
[site=xenforo.com]This gets displayed[/site]
For sites that can not redirect www you have to use (http=url)text(/http).

Code:
[http=hubble.nasa.gov]I can see the stars![/http]
[http=hubble.nasa.gov]I can see the stars[/http]

I will hopefully be putting a button on the bar soon. Well, as soon as I figure out how. :D

Seems that it may not work on all sites. I tried PvP and Goblins but neither works.

[site=msnbc.com]MSNBC[/site]

[site=pvponline.com]PvP Test[/site]

Hmm. Sometimes they only work on refresh. Weird.

And if you click on the link it takes you away from the page. I can't help that right now but I'm working on it.

*edit*

That is weird the preview image is of a different thread than the link.

This is kinda cool!

Any chance on being able to flag spam threads so they stop appearing on my "What is New" option?

as you know becuase of NoScript I can't use most of the stuff on the site without allowing halforums.com which I can't becuase it messes with youtube.com and the site breaks. So my question is if you have any idea when that issue is going to be fixed?

Do you mean like Reporting and having a mod do something? Or am I reading this wrong?

The problem with this is that I have no control with NoScript. I don't own the code for XenForo so if there's a NS/XF thing going on all I can do is keep asking at XenForo.com about it. There's a thread about it on XF, but it only looks like there's a ticket open with NoScript itself and only talks about video embedding, which I think is the same thing which you are talking about. I sent the guy a message who sent the ticket to NoScript, but have yet to hear back.

He is requesting a feature for users to individually block specific threads from showing up in What's New (or at all, really), most notably the threads that get a lot of traffic and show up a LOT, like the Say Something About... or One Word Only threads.

Let me look and see if there's anything like that on the horizon or already available through an addon.

Thanks for the info.

And I wasn't expecting you to be able to fix the issue I was just curious if there was any info on whether or not XF or NoScript had any plans for a fix.

NoScript, Youtube and HF works perfectly fine on my end. Been using all of this for years now without ANY problems on my home PC, my home laptop as well as my work laptop. I'd look elsewhere.... most likely your browser.

Pretty much this. As 75% of the threads on HF are pure and utter spam I'd love to not be able to see these things in my "What is New?" option so I can see... you know... new and interesting stuff.

Right now I am now using FF 5.0 but the issue started when I upgraded to FF 4.0 awhile back

Still your browser or browser settings. I assure you it works well on my end on multiple PCs... long term.

  • Opera 10.15+
Internet Explorer support is planned in upcoming versions.

@Li3n

Seems to work fine with FF 5.0 too... or is the 2 FF's there meant to mean that it won't work with versions in between?

This would be great!

Where is this option?

Yeah, nifty but not much utility.

Oh, and the "link preview" addon seems completely pointless other than trolling to show NSFW pics upon hover and increase thread load time.
:(
