It is newer than any of my relatives, that is the only specs that I need.

It isn't much, I suppose:

500gb HD
2 x memory 2GB DDR2
Motherboard MEGa G31MXP-K
Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 processor

a potential problem: It came with Window Vista (for free), I head bad stuff about it so I am not sure if I should start to stall stuff right away. Another thing, he doesn't come with Microsoft Word???

Most people are perfectly happy with Vista, but Windows 7 is out, or should be soon, so if you don't mind waiting you might consider that instead.

Microsoft word is expensive, but I find most people can get away without it by using google documents or open office.

But if you need it, the "student/family" edition of microsoft office isn't terribly expensive and includes word.

How does the vista works with Autocad and The Sims 2 and 3 (and also: Warcraft 3? is classic man xD)

Underneath the hood, Win7 is largely the same as Vista. If the software runs on vista (and most of those do, though some use compatibility mode) then it'll run on win7.

I keep XP around for some old non-updated software I use for circuit design and electronics work. Other than that, everything has worked flawlessly on Vista.

I'm getting one next week, with Windows 7 on it :) Can't wait to have that thing tearing up CS:S and L4D.

As soon as I get a job and can settle my finances, Imma get a new computer. I want to give Windows 7 a whirl and I'm aching to build something, plus my current one keeps having problems.

Personally, I hate OpenOffice. I find it to be slow and bloated. Granted, it's been a while since I've used it (like 2 or 3 years), so it might have improved since then, but first impressions die hard.

Microsoft Office is one of the two best Products that Microsoft makes.

With Windows7 out now you should be able to get some kind of discount on it having just bought your machine. Specs look perfectly fine. Not the worst by any means.

If your processor supports VT:

That way you don't have to go all dualboot to access a simple program that won't run on Win7.[/QUOTE]

Most of the issues are with hardware level drivers, which, even if they run under a virtual machine, usually bring other problems.
