Okay, this is going to be the thread where we put together a list of handy dandy things you can do in vBulletin. Submit your tips and I'll add them to this list.

1) You can change the amount of threads per page by going into the User CP and choosing "Edit Options". This overrides the board's default.

2) You can check out the various styles of board very easily by either changing it in your User CP or by the dropdown list at the bottom left of every page.

3) Under the User CP, go to Edit Your Details and you can set your own custom title! Example: Mine is "Board Lackey".

4) QuickReply (QR) : Push the QuickReply button on any post and it should warp you straight down the page to the QuickReply section. Optionally you can check the box to have it quote the post you came from. You can also hit "advanced" if you decide to add a more elaborate reply than you first intended.

5) MultiQuote (MQ) : You can toggle the MultiQuote button on several posts in a thread and then when you hit reply it'll quote all tagged posts for you underneath each other. This button is located on the bottom right of each post, left of the QuickReply button

6) Recent Threads : Right now you can use the www.halforums.com link situated at the top right of every page to get to the 'home' screen which will list the most recent threads.

7) You can mark an entire subforum as read by doubleclicking on the icon on front of them.

8) Full Inbox : An unfortunate side effect generated by the move. Check for empty messages, ones that have no subject title and are all dated the same (01-01-1970). Check and delete those in both inbox and sent box. Also check for folders named "Imported Saved Received/Sent Messages". There may be 6 of them, all empty. Go to "Edit Folders" under the PM options and delete them (you can do this by clearing the name field and push "Save Folders").

9) User passwords : You will have to reset your password in able to log in to the new board. Just try to login, fail, then click "request new password" or similar. Then log in with your new temporary password you should have received via email. Change it to whatever you want afterward.

10) Tags : When creating a new thread you can add up to 5 tags (keywords) and in existing threads you can add 2 tags. You can do this below your new post (before submitting), or from the bottom of any existing thread. Using this can enhance the search function by looking for very specific words. Tag cloud is available.

11) No Smilies : By default the Message Editor box is set to "Basic", which will not show the smilies. You'll have to it to at least "Standard" level to get them to show up. You can find this by going to your User CP > Edit Options > The scroll all the way to the bottom underneath "Miscellaneous Options", it's right above theme selection.

12) If you know there was a thread on the old boards but it seems to be gone you can use the search and locate it. It's there, just not in any order.

13) If you are not a mod or admin and you double click the icon to the left, it'll mark the thread as read.

- Tags : Despite what Ed said, you can have more than 2 tags in a existing thread. You can, in fact, have 5.

5 in the first submission, but only 2 for edited posts.

I think.. THINK.. that you can only add 2 tags to threads that you didn't make yourself, and up to 5 to those you did.

Try it.

Looks like I'm correct:

Some tags couldn't be added for the following reason(s):
* The number of tags you tried to add to this thread exceeded the maximum number of tags by 2.
Changes that did not cause errors have been applied.

Yup. So if you made a thread, you can add a maximum of 5 tags.
Other people can add a max of 2 tags.

My question: On my thread I put 5 tags on, can other people add tags to it to bring the total to >5?

That's all I needed to know.

Say, what are these points, levels and activity meters? Or the rep power?

Rep is like the "thanks" or "no thanks" that we had on the other board. Experience is just something funky & fun.

Once Dave decide to switch with a particular system we can paste the info in here lol.
I'm testing these things out. You never know how they'll work until you try them on for size.

Any way of getting the quick edit BB coding back? Highlight a section of text and pop a url coding around it, or IMG to a pasted link? Also a link back to the general board at the bottom of the page when I'm done reading would be spiffariffic.
