Moby? The song they choose to show off the instrument is by... Moby?

I'd also like to point out how sad it is that I recognized the song about 0.5 seconds after they started it. I guess that could also be seen as a good thing from the instrument's standpoint that I *was* able to recognize it.

The link Tin provided impresses me more than either of the other videos.

The entire instrument is simply an input controller to the computer. You map on the computer what everything does (and you can map groups and switch on the fly from the instrument).

The wind part is just another input to the computer, and can be mapped to volume, pitch, etc. In most of the videos where it was used they had it attached to volume so they could blow harder or softer to control how loud the instrument was.

In other words, it's a very expensive computer keyboard.

Looks cool as shit, but I'm not sure how well it'll mesh with other instruments. It seems to do too much almost.

Woah. Those things look totally rad. The vid explaining it was fascinating, too.

So I guess computer musicians are looking for legitimacy by imitating analog/electrical instruments? I'll admit, it wouldn't be all that fun to watch a computer play back music at a concert.

You have a keyboard with pressure and direction sensitive keys? Sounds pricey.

Cost runs somewhat over $6,000 (£3,950). I don't know if that includes the computer, though I would assume not.

However, there's supposed to be a smaller version available later for £350, so around $525. That's not too bad at all. Also, the software is supposed to eventually be open.
