Not sure if anyone's seen that there's a new D&D podcast at Wizards of the Coast website, with the guys from Penny Arcade, Scott Kurtz, and now Kris Straub.

Dark Sun campaign

Two episodes are already up at the time I'm posting this.

I find it slightly funny and wrong that Kris Straub, despite being the one who needs the most attention pointed to his comics, is the only one whose comic isn't linked.

Check out the new Players Guide (not Players Handbook) for 4th Ed. Penny Arcade is the cover art and it is filled with hilarious cartoons from the guys as well.

I really wish they'd play more. It felt like they were JUST starting to develop personalities for their characters, which is where the hilarity really comes in, for me. This was a fairly straight forward adventure, rather than the bits of absolute gold we got from the Acquisitions Incorporated campaigns, and I fell that was because those characters all seems much more fleshed out.

Given the choice between more Dark Sun and more Acq Inc, I'd definitely ask for more Acq Inc, to visit those characters again even though Dark Sun has a very interesting setting a rather mysterious story going for it so far.

I agree, though I would like for Kris to have a character join the Acquisitions Inc, whether or not Wil Wheaton would reroll. It also helps that in there, you have Tycho to play straight man to Gabe--just like in the comic! :p

I find that in the D&D campaigns we play, a lot of the humor also comes from the characters and their personal approach to situations. Probably a common thing in D&D games; here unfortunately the characters felt restrained by the players needing to absorb a setting full of specifics and constraints, whereas regular D&D tends to be "anything goes". So it was less like them getting into their characters and more like all of them sitting around for a chat while also playing D&D. Nonetheless, I like listening to these guys.
