Yup and rightly so (IMHO). These are pretty young kids and this is not something parents are gonna be happy about, and I totally understand why. It will be interesting to see if she is actually fired or just slapped on the wrist.

That's what was thinking. Either reusing an old project and forgetting to replace all the old content, or having all the video from her camera in the same place with generic file names (DV00023.avi) and using the wrong one.

It's the only way it could have happened by her doing "accidentilly" right? Well... if you are a elementry grade teacher (or any really) and you like to keep your own personal stash of ME porn hanging around and you like to make DVD's for the 8 year olds in your class you should A) remember to double check and make sure at the very least that the DVD works and has all the video you want on it and B) that you didn't include any of your videos of you doing a "double-McGruffin-backwards-rolly-polly" on it.
It's not rocket science.

The problem is that not everyone is that some people are very sloooooow.
Honestly, while this is a big deal, I'm not sure I'm for firing her over it. Transfer her to another school, sure. But if it really WAS somehow an accident, give her a freebie. Yes, children don't need to see sex acts at that age. But firing her, I think, sends the message that sex is somehow unnatural.

Though this does qualify in one of the 3 categories that'll get you fired according to my boss. It all depends on her union, I guess.

Well, whether or not they *should* fire her I will leave up to her bosses, but it's certainly the kind of thing that could easily get you fired in pretty much any job, let alone one that involves a bunch of little kids.

It shows an amazing amount of negligence on her part. That's why she should be fired if at all. It's not about the sex, it's the astounding lack of attention here. So it's not saying "sex is bad or unnatural" it's "accidentally throwing video of you and your dude doing the nasty then giving it to 24 8 year olds is unacceptable".
At least that's how I see it.

Even though I don't think she should be fired over this (if she personally called the parents in tears before any of her superiors found out, it's fairly obvious that it was a giant fuck-up and nothing untoward), I have no ability to argue this point.

Yeah it's very easy to mess up like this - and clips you film all end up in the same folder really, according to number, and many people keep them like that so they remember the order of taking the clips.

But I don't think she needs to be fired. When I was 8, I already knew what sex was - 8 year olds aren't as clueless as you might think unless you keep them locked up. What would be the real issue here, is that the teacher would have a bad rep after this at school anyway, so she should transfer where this wasn't known.

Also, something tells me not all parents will have complained

especially since those DVDs were also made for the parents to see what their kids had been up to. I bet quite a few copies will have been made

There is a part of me I do wonder about other people.

We, as human, are a group type of people. We cannot really do things all by ourselves at least not in this level of society. Some of these people actually prepare food, make clothes, build homes, provide power, provide jobs, etc etc. You do have to worry about the mentality of the society as a whole sometimes since it DOES effect you in some ways... especially if those people are really close to you (co-worker, friends, business associate)

I think you're immensely worried. I can tell by BlackCrossCrusader's vigor in his response that he knows something you haven't shown the rest of us: a deep, unrelenting concern for the children others will perceive to mature into your next exotic dancer. And I applaud your worry, Chaz, that is evident upon what others might see as an overreaction by BlackCrossCrusader. But I can infer beyond that. I can tell this keeps you up at night, sometimes in tears, faced only with the ceiling and gentle breathing as you clutch your chest and whisper into the dark, "Won't somebody please think of the children?" I feel your pain.

That, or BlackCrossCrusader really was overreacting, but I have a good feeling about my first assumption.
