I need to install the sound drive (or whatever is the software) in coworker computer, the sound box are working despite being old. I pretty sure it is a software problem, but don't know what software to use, any help?

Unplug your headphones.

I did that a couple days ago. I couldn't figure out why I was getting no sound. Headphones were plugged in.

check Device Manager and see if the device is enabled or if it's missing drivers.

Does the motherboard have an onboard sound card? If so you may need to go into BIOS and deactivate it so it so that it will run the sound through the sound card.

I had a computer last week that had a faulty onboard sound.. it kept saying there were headphones plugged into the front jack and as a result, there would be no sound.,.. but there was no jack and the pins were hooked up properly. I finally just disabled onboard sound and gave them a pci sound card I knew worked (was for my landlord too). ;)
