The Nostalgia Critic Ain't Afraid of No Crappy Movies!

Linky-dinkables

You know, the weird thing about this video is that I know I watched Casper at some point, but I totally didn't remember Eric Idle or Dan Aykroyd having been in it. I just vaguely remembered not having liked the movie very much.

But seriously, the end of this video fucking ruled. I ain't gonna spoil it none, except to say it's the most I've laughed at a Critic vid in a while. Tears were coming out of my eyes by the end of it.

Haven't watched the review yet (stupid long loading times), but I actually like the Casper movie. :(

Then again, I had a big crush on Christina Ricci until she kinda turned ugly and started smoking (which probably has something to do with said ugly-ing). And it's not creepy to be attracted to her back then because I was her same age.

Curses! If only I'd been four minutes faster. I blame the Flash avatar. Who can compete with that?!

Superman? Quicksilver?

Right! This thread is now about "Who's Fastest!"

Please note that I said "Who's" as in short for "Who is", not "Whose", which would be a form of possession. :D

I vote QS, as I always imagined him to be at least as fast as Flash, and Flash is stupid faster than Supes.

Proof Flash owns:

Small pic, text says:

Supes: We don't know that for sure.
Flash: You can't stop me.
Supes: I've raced you before, Barry, I even won some of those races.

Panel 2
Flash: Those were for charity, Clark.

But, who is the fastest with ... the ladies?

Nightwing.

The dude's gotten action from Wonder Girl, Starfire and Batgirl. Nuff said.

pfft, quicksilver can barely break 60mph.

wasn't there a DC/Marvel crossover that had both of them in it and the Flash was faster (I don't know for sure since I don't have my crossovers anymore)

Yeah, Flash can tap into the Speed Force. Quicksilver is just a mutant who can run fast. He beat him pretty easily in the Marvel vs. DC and JLA/Avengers.

I liked that movie. Haven't seen it in a long time, but it was a cute kid's movie. Even manages to make you feel a little bad about Casper's death and his dad's fate.

I remember thinking the movie was decent. Sure I haven't watched it for years but at the time I thought it was decent

Huh, they always made it look like he was going a lot faster.

Ah well, I never much cared for him anyway.

Wut? When did Superman beat Flash in a race? Flash fan-site Hyperborea says the best Superman has ever been able to do is tie.

As for Quicksilver, most of the speedsters in the DC universe easily outmatch him in speed. Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Bart Allen, Johnny Quick, Jessie Quick, Max Mercury.... all of them are capable of running much faster than Quicksilver.

The Marvel vs DC collection has a section of character stats in the back. The Flash's upper speed limit is nearly the speed of light. Quicksilver's upper speed limit is the speed of sound. Given, the Flash's speed has varied over the years, but at times in comics various flashes have been said to have run faster than the speed of light. According to wikipedia, Quicksilver's powers got upgraded at some point by a future version of himself allowing him to run at about five times the speed of sound.

So, really, there's no contest between Quicksilver and the Flash. Quicksilver and Kid Flash might have been evenly matched at the beginning of each of their careers, running at about the speed of sound, but Wally West went on to become the fastest speedster in the DC universe, entering the Speed Force and coming back again.

Until WW Hulk, you could basically say that no human in the Marvel universe even came close to the DC universe in power levels (except maybe Sentry). Which made it more interesting to me. I mean, I used to chuckle when people debated Hulk v Superman, because it was no contest. Superman, even post-Crisis, would destroy the Hulk without even sweating. But now, it's unclear.

I've been watching less NC since we got hooked on Spoony, but the slowed-down line, and the finale were hilarious. Especially that ending; that was nuts.

There was one point where I just laughed my ass off.

All together now...

CASPAAAAAHHH!!!

That was it. Funny review, and I realize how crappy that movie was from my current perspective. As a kid it was entertaining, but I didn't get the cultural references.

Also, "Zuul, motherfucker!"... I've heard that somewhere, but can't remember where. Any ideas?

It's a running gag on all of Channel Awesome. According to the CA wiki, it was used in the Pagemaster and Gargoyles reviews from the Nostalgia Critic, but I'm not sure if that's where it started. Spoony used it in his 5 second movie version of 1408, but that came later.

According to Linkara's behind the scenes footage from the recording of the "Alone In The Dark" review, the gag originated on The Nostalgia Critic. Apparently, Rob "The Other Guy" Walker wrote the line as "Zuul, god damn it, Zuul" and Doug "That Guy With The Glasses" Walker changed it's present form.
