Shit yes! I didn't have cable as a kid, so I watched a lot of
Thunderbirds that my uncle would tape off and mail to me. He was a huge
Thunderbirds fan, so I think he was trying to mold me in his image.
Whenever I got to my other aunt's house, I'd watch cartoons, chief among them was
Transformers.
The two channels we DID get had
Power Rangers and
Ninja Turtles after school, but mom wouldn't let me watch them because they were too violent. Instead I would end up watching
Passions with my babysitter.
On Saturday mornings I would get up early enough to catch
The Animated Adventures of Robin Hood, which led into
Sonic The Hedgehog, and then
Batman: The Animated Series. A few other cartoons later, and my father would come down so we could both watch
Bugs Bunny.
When we finally got cable, I watched a lot of old reruns with my parents. That's how I fell in love with
M*A*S*H, and
All in the Family. Eventually I got into a routine after school.
I Dream of Genie,
Bewitched,
The A-Team, and by the time my parents were home for supper, we'd all watch
M*A*S*H and
All in the Family.
I feel like a bit of a poser when I talk about the shows that came on before my time, but thanks to re-runs and my parents, they were a huge part of my growing up as well.
