I can't even make the ones 1-2hrs away here in TX. Either due to work or noonelse to really go with.

However that might be changing soon, so here's hoping I can make a few cons this year. Again I am going to miss Blizz-Con, which should actually be interesting this year vs last.

I wish I could, but I know it won't happen due to money and October being a busy month at work this year. Some year, I'll get up there. The one year I was set to go, my friends and I ditched it because the line was enormous, in February, and the venue was too small for the number of attendees. I hear that's still a problem, but it's the largest venue they can get in the city.

Is it still at Jacob Javits? I've gone, but it was so crowded and hot, that you literally had to go crotch-to-ass to move anywhere in that place. I lost my free lodging (in-laws did the required move to FL) so I'm not going again any time soon.

Well, I was already heading to NYC that weekend for my Birthday, since it happens to be the 16th. We were headed downt o visit friends, and the Con too. What really mad eit work, was that as my older brother's best man, I had to plan his bachelor party. He is a huuuuuge Buffalo Bills Fan, as are a few of his friends, while myself and my younger brother a big Giants Fans. When he proposed last year, and said he wanted to do the party down by NYC, he stated he wanted to go to the Bills Giants game, whatever weekend it was this year. And that jsut happens to be thwe same day as my 30th...Oct 16.

So it all works out perfect. i travel down for the Con and meet up with my college pals thursday and friday, then on saturday the 12 gus make it down for the bachelor party, we go to jersey, get the hotel and what not, party up all night back in the city, go back, and then tailgate, go to the game all day and party all Sunday night after.

Going to be a complete shit show of Comics, games, booze, bars, then booze, bars, strippers, football, booze, bars and strippers! Woot woooooooooooooooooooooooooot!

We have cons in Omaha. Sort of. They are frightening things with dregs of society and only the lowest-level of industry guests.

It's kinda sad.

Shannow isn't talking about your local Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dave.

I'm thinking about it, but everyone I know who went to a previous said it's not really worth it beyond saying you went once....

Well, I am going to go there with some friends. my roommate has decided to build himself a full Namor costume, which will be hilarious, so I may as well cosplay for the first time. Unfortunately, with everything else going on that weekend, funds are low, so I will have to do this on the cheap (No doom armor...this time)....so, Carl Creel, aka the Absorbing Man it is. Im already bald, and I can shave my beard down to scruff (ugh, thats going to make me sad) but the rest should be easy! wife beater or sleeveless shirt, fake ball and chain, and paint for that arm to match!

Yeah, one of the big "artist" guests at ValleyCon in Fargo last year was a dude who did cartoons for Hustler. He was put right across from us, and he didn't sell anything ALL WEEKEND.

On the other hand, they did have Timothy Zahn there, which was pretty cool.

I'm not going to NYC Comic-Con, and actually I don't think I'll be going to Uber-Con, either, even though it's not that far.

Alright, my pass arrived and I'm really looking forward to it.

What should I expect in Artist's Alley? I'd love to get a handful of sketches from some of the people listed, but have no clue what to expect. Price range? If I want them to do a specific character to do I need to get there early in the day?

I kinda think it would be cool to get a whole bunch of the same character by different artists. But again, no idea what to expect.

Thoughts?

My husband and I haven't got our passes in the mail yet but we bought them last month...

We're only going to be there on the Saturday. Watch out for 70s Supergirl!

Had an awesome time at the con, great vbachelor party Sat night, and tailgating to watch the Giants win Sunday! All in all, a fantastic weekend! And a couple friends paid to have this done for me, since Doom is my favorite comic character and I loved the 70s supervillian team-up...Doom and Namor having a drink!
