Obscurus Lupa Presents is yet another web video series that reviews bad movies, and the first in a while I've thought was actually good. Though I'm not sure if Allison Pregler actually has talent or I'm just a sucker for redheads. On the plus side she's got good enthusiasm, a nice energy, and pretty good writing. On the other hand, she needs to work on her comedic timing (especially not rushing punchlines) and her direction of more elaborate scenes is lacking. My favorite review so far is probably Teen Sorcery (Lexa Doig in direct to video dreck!), but her take on Masterminds has it's own strange charm.
So, have I found a new internet reviewer to folllow, or will I get bored as soon as I can see past her hair color?

What we need is a critic who reviews good movies as though they were bad.
You know, like what Yahtzee does for games.

Thing is, though, Yahtzee doesn't just outright bash a game. Okay, it might seem that way, but the thing is, he doesn't review them, he critiques them. In other words, he looks beyond the hype and looks at what works and what especially doesn't work. That's the whole idea behind being a critic and not a reviewer: he criticizes it. Even games he thinks are good or great, he'll pick apart, like Bioshock and Batman. Just because it's a good game doesn't mean it's not without its faults. It's the same reason why I hate when a reviewer gives a movie or game, say, a 7.5 or 8.0 score and people complain it should be higher. That's NOT a bad score, you twats!
Sorry, side-rant over. Gonna have some breakfast and check out this site. Will come back and edit this in a moment.
EDIT: Hurm. None of the links are working. Might be on my end. I'll try later.
