Technically speaking, every new iteration of chip technology is "closer than ever to replicating the human brain."

That is impossible at our current state.. I heard a few years ago that they've ALMOST made a computer that can ALMOST replicate the brain function of a simple-minded cat.

Human brain? Naaah.

A comment on twitter said "IBM has developed a processor close to replicating the human brain. It watches TV and lies about how much work it's done."
So, how is that different than what ATI and nVidia chips have been doing for years?

heh. There are many mysteries of biology that can't quite be explain by science......... yet.

We have come a long way from leeches and blood letting. We still haven't totally master the fight against old age, cancer, or diseases that can wipe us out, but we are getting there.

The key word on the article was simulate, so we can simulate the neurons of the brain activity, but it doesn't have the missing element (I don't know what it is call) that actually acts as a cat.

The human brain is similar (if not same) than other humans, but there are distinct difference between us. That is something that science can't simulate. Yet.
