Other Characters for the Lantern Corps

With the passing of the Blackest Night and starting of Brightest Day, an odd idea has come to form: what if other characters from shows or movies were to be members of the various Lantern Corps? Well, here is a thread to ponder ideas for who could be members of the corps from different series outside of DC Comics. I'll start things off with a bunch of various cartoon characters.

Red Lantern Corps: General Skarr (Evil Con Carne), Ashley Spinelli (Recess!), Raphael (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Orange Lantern Corps: Eddy (Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy), Shego (Kim Possible), Gargamel (Smurfs), Krang (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Destro (G.I. Joe)

Sinestro Corps: Ickis (AAHHH!!! Real Monsters), Baroness (G.I. Joe), Skeletor (He-Man), Shredder (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Dr. Claw (Inspector Gadget)

Green Lantern Corps: Daria Morgendorffer (Daria), Cornelius Fillmore (Fillmore!), Racer X (Speed Racer), Speed Racer, Kim Possible, Keith (Voltron), Captain N

Blue Lantern Corps: Samurai Jack, Ruby Gloom, Optimus Prime, Lion-O (Thundercats), Splinter (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Duke (G.I. Joe)

Indigo Tribe: Frankie Foster (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends), Arnold (Hey Arnold!), Papa Smurf (Smurfs), Penny (Inspector Gadget)

Violet Lantern Corps: Helga Pataki (Hey Arnold!), Trixie Tang (Fairly Oddparents), Jem

Black Lantern Corps:
Bunny (Powerpuff Girls), Jet (Avatar: the Last Airbender), Ponce DeLeon (Clone High)

White Lantern Corps: Aang (Avatar: the Last Airbender)

Mal Reynolds would certainly be a Green Lantern.

Yeah, pretty much. :)

I think Raphael would be far more likely to be a Red Lantern than Orange. His envy of Leo is more a result of his frustration and anger with having to be a good guy in a bad world.

In keeping with the Firefly thing, I think Jayne would be Orange, Simon would be Blue, Book would be Indigo, Zoe would be Indigo (or Green like Mal).

Wash would be a Black Lantern :p

No clue what River would be.

Thanks for the notice. Bit of a typo there.

Yeah, I see Zoe as more of a member of the Violet Lantern Corps.

Also, two separate possbilities:
Darth Vader for the Sinestro Corps.
Scott Pilgrim for the Green Lantern Corps.

To go with the running joke of the series, I'd say Katara from Avatar: TLA would fit in well with the Blue Lanterns.

I don't know why, but my mind jumped to characters from Planescape: Torment. Death is so prevalent in this game I'm ignoring Black Lantern status because it could be all of them (even without major spoilers).

Vhailor : Green Lantern - the guy is a walking suit of armor who didn't die because of his will to keep justice in the world.

Dak'kon: Green - his whole discipline of using the Karach blade revolves around molding chaos matter via will.

Ignus: Red - the guy wants to burn the world because of his anger

Motre: Blue - I was tempted to say Orange, but really I think the whole reason that Morte sticks so close to TNO is because of the hope he has that this time things will be different.

Fall-From-Grace: not sure about Indigo or Violet - on one hand a reformed succubus would seem to argue for love, but the Brothel of Slating Itellectual Lusts seems more of a compassion venture.

Annah: Orange - a greedy thief. Maybe a simplistic choice, but I think the most apt.

Anyone want to explain to me the White Lantern powers and emotional focus? All that I can discern form Wikipedia is that it's something involving life. The Nameless One seems to alternate between Black and White lanterns depending on his incarnation.

I just re-watched the series and I'm not sure I can agree with all of these. :p

While Crichton would be an excellent Green, he's also, without a doubt, the most hopeful and forward-looking dude in the series.

He's trapped on the the far side of the universe and everyone is really out to get him, but he never, ever loses faith that things can work out. That's blue all the way.
Aeryn seems Indigo to me. A remorseful Indigo looking for redemption perhaps, but compassion is definitely her motivating emotion.

Zhaan is actually a tough call, I think. Her background is definitely Violet-oriented, but it manifests as calm compassion (most of the time), so maybe Indigo here as well.

Chiana is 100% Violet (at least until the vision thing). Everything she does is motivated, passionately, by her emotions for the people she cares about.

I'm not sure what color Pilot would be, but Blue wouldn't be it. There is nothing even remotely hopeful about Pilot's worldview.

I think you're spot on for D'Argo and Scorpy, and I just got the giggles thinking of Rygel as an Orange Lantern.

Now what would Stark be?

Black, probably

Another obvious one:

Indigo Tribe: Ma-Ti

His compassion for nature is what scored him the ring of heart. I'm sure it wouldn't be out of place for him to join their ranks.

Only half serious, famous cartoon ducks:

Daffy Duck, Donald Duck - Red

Scrooge McDuck - Orange

Darkwing Duck - Yellow

GizmoDuck - Green

Launchpad McQuack - Blue

Mrs. Beakley - Indigo

Daisy Duck, Arthur (Sheldon) - Violet

The Joker could never be a part of any corps. He's far to lone gun. So if anything, He'd be Orange Lantern Corps. After skinning Larfleez alive, of course.

I should scan in the drawings I did of different Marvel characters as Lanterns. I had a Red Lantern Wolverine, Black Lantern Capt America, Indigo Tribe Storm.

I don't think the Joker is a closely tied to Fear as the Sinestro Corps actual choice, Scarecrow, was. In fact, I think his insanity and general emotional instability would pretty much disqualify him for any of the Corps.

Yeah, each corps represents an extreme focus of a particular emotion. Red for Rage, Orange for Avarice, Green for Willpower, etc... Seeing as the Joker is a complete sociopath, he doesn't really have any emotions.

He could be a Black Lantern if he died, though.

Oh, that reminds me a while back I posted paintings of various Star Wars characters as lanterns. I'll have to see about finding those.

That or he could have a Mood Ring that had the basic powers of the other corps rings.

Yeah, I suppose he wouldn't really fit with the Sinestro Corps. Still an awesome pece of fanart, though, and he certainly covers the "instill great fear" portion of the Sinestro Corps. Of course, that was the entirety of what Scarecrow did.

For another awesome piece (though I mentioned it already):

Also, I might see Scrooge McDuck as potentially more of a Green Lantern, because he had more of a self-discipline to guide his greed, though it's stil valid to see him as an Orange Lantern. Flintheart Glomgold, though, I see as an out-and-out Orange Lantern.

Daffy could never be a Green, he has almost no willpower. He's impulse and anger and greed.

It HAS been a long time since I've really watched anything, so I'll accept your criticisms. I really think Chrichton would be Green still, though. He's tough and keeps going despite virtually the entire galaxy being after him. Very strong willed. But Blue works as well.

I really think Stark would not be black. He helped people cross over, comforting them in the moment of death. So, maybe Indigo, possibly even White?

Now, what about Noranti, Jool, Crais, and Sikozu?

Crais, I actually think would be Orange

Jool, I don't know

Noranti - probably a Violet or Indigo, though we are never sure of her motivations

Sikozu - Yellow

Oh and Greg Horn had prints of Scarecrow w/ a Yellow ring that he did at Heroes Con. It is quite awesome.

Edit: ok, that was really weird, apparently if there is a spoiler tag just before the /quote tag, the system ignores the end tag. it does not recognize a new one put in either, though. Had to remove the last spoiler to get it to work right.

Did Crane get the ring taken away from him, or is he still part of the Sinestro Corps? He's absolutely perfect, being pretty much obsessed with fear. I believe there were multiple times where a yellow ring tried to attach to him, but was always foiled up until the Darkest Night storyline.

Alas, I'm not sure. The last I checked, Lex took his ring while he was a member of the Orange Lantern Corps. Of course, that was the last time I checked. He is pretty much a perfect choice for the Sinestro Corps.

Let me think... as far as I can remember, Scarecrow has only had the ring twice: Once during Darkest Night (which Lex took away from him) and once during the Sinestro Corp storyline. So no, he doesn't have one right now.

From their perspective, the Black Lanterns were doing that. :p

Crais, I actually think would be Orange
Crais is a tough one; I think he'd be one of the ones changing Corps frequently. He definitely starts out Red, goes Orange, and possibly ends up in Green by the end.

Jool, I don't know
Yeah, there are no colors for "bookish and academically distracted". Indigo possibly, at least in regards to the past.

Noranti - probably a Violet or Indigo, though we are never sure of her motivations
After re-watching it, I still have no clue what her motivations really are, but I think Violet may be closest.

Sikozu - Yellow
I think Sikozu would be an Alpha Yellow Lantern, were such a thing possible. :p
