A sort of bittersweet laugh from me, from seeing the unfortunate truths that lie at the foundation of the humor.

Southworth delivers the laugh nonetheless again, though.

Plus, hey, Kurtz kissing Straub.

Extremely honest PvP comic

It's a guest comic, but still, extremely honest

edit: Dave you could have just deleted my thread if it was already posted on here, I wouldn't have been mad :)

Shego, I have never loved you more than I do at this moment.

And just 10 days after Kurtz posted he \\"doesn't really do guest strips anymore\\".

The reason he's not doing them is his wife was in a car accident and went into the hospital.

It's a miracle she's okay.

Now that we know she's okay. I feel comfortable posting this. It's a miracle she's okay. SEATBELTS. http://twitpic.com/1fh0xd

His sister-in-law was in a car accident, not his wife.

Shego, real classy.

I honestly was wondering how long it would be before someone did that.

I would have done it myself but all I have is MS paint and I knew I could not do it justice so thank you Shego

*edit*

that really sucks about his sister in-law but I am glad to hear she is alright

I'm not bagging on Shego I thought it was funny. Nobody knew about it. I heard it was his wife.

The strip is still funny, but I'm not going to bag on him for having a guest strip.

Shego is right that he claims to not like having guest strips. However:
Scott Kurtz' Blog said:
Guest strips are not something I like to do often. I prefer PvP to be my voice. But occasionally, life dictates that I take some time off and ask my peers in comics to fill in for me. This is one of those times.

The Pacific Northwest is calling. It’s time for me to finally move to Seattle. My wife will be staying in Dallas for a few months longer. A new promotion ensures she gets to keep her job after the move, but it also means she must stay longer than we expected to train. A couple could have worse problems.

Between now and May 7th I have to finish cleaning up things, packing my stuff, and loading up a Uhaul for my move. Between now and then I also have an appearance at the C2E2 show in Chicago. Needless to say, a lot is going on. And I would like to lean on my friends until I can get settled in to my new temporary bachelor pad.

We’ve got a line up of some really talented people. They’re good pals, and they love PvP. So please check out the guest strips and visit their sites. If nothing else, you might find some new webcomics to read.
I think uprooting one's life and moving cross country is more than enough reason to take a couple weeks off. Other cartoonists may not have had to, but Kurtz feels he does.

Where's the car accident thing mentioned? I thought he was doing the guest strips cause he's moving to seattle?

It's been on his Twitter all day. I didn't know about the move and thought that the accident was the reason.

Scott posted a pick of his sister-in-law's car on Twitter, and it's a miracle she's even alive, let alone up and talking. Seatbelts and airbags, friends. Gotta love 'em.

Absolutely, it's not that I have a problem with him doing guest strips, it's that he's notorious for having guest strips frequently, but for some reason claims he either "doesn't really do them anymore" or "doesn't like having guest strips".

I've always liked when there were guest strips, even when I was still a fan of PVP. Not because I didn't like Kurtz' work, but because it was a nice change of pace that shook things up a bit. We've had some hilarious results, such as Will Wheton "bacon" strip (heh, bacon strip; pun!), the "Jade & whatshername totally making out!", etc. Sure, they were hit and miss sometimes, but it kind of kept PVP fresh sometimes.

When did Kurtz become "notorious" for having guest strips? He has them at about the same frequency of any other of the big strips.

Maybe I don't read enough of the big strips, but of all the strips I've perused at least somewhat regularly, Kurtz has, by far, the most guest strips. If I had to guess, I'd say Kurtz often does 10-15 guest strips a year, and no other comic I read has done more than 5-10 in their lifetime.

I've read a few strips that have quite a lot of guest strips. A lot of them do guest strips whenever there's a con (or simply don't have strips at all).
