PC version VS. Xbox 360 version

Hi All,

Was hoping to get some opinions. I just got Mass Effect 2 as a birthday present and it's for the PC, which is what I had asked for before I found out you could take your character progression from Mass Effect 1 in to Mass Effect 2 on the Xbox 360. I have been playing 1 on the 360 so I am wondering if it makes sense to stick with the PC version of 2 or trade it in for the Xbox360 version.

Is the game significantly changed by the addition of the character progression from the first game? Or is it fluff?

Thanks in advance!

You can transfer characters with the PC version.... or so i thought?

You can, but he's saying that he already had 1 on the xbox and got the PC version of 2 as a gift.

Anyway, the differences are minor. Seems the canon version is that Shepard was Renegade through 1 and made all the corresponding choices.

I believe that is true as well, I don't know much about the PC version. However Gryfter's issue is with transferring an Xbox360 Mass Effect 1 save to the the PC version of Mass Effect 2. It might be worth checking with Bioware customer service to see if that is possible.

Unfortunately I can't comment on how the game is effected by the importation of Character saves as I haven't gotten ME2 yet myself. I was playing Dragon Age pretty obsessively from December through February, and I told myself I wouldn't get ME2 until I finished DA. Alas I've hardly touched DA in over a month since I got Bad Company 2. I can tell you I fully intend to transfer my character save over and I've heard pretty good things about the transfer process. But I couldn't tell you anything definitive other than I think the game is a little shorter without the extra transfer content.

PC Supremacy. Console gamers are babies. Have fun not being able to patch and having to pay for free content, lol.

Console games can be patched. Granted we can't very easily go out and make our own patches but we can get patches.

Also, we get all of the same free content updates.

Interesting... I think I am running pretty close to the middle between Renegade and Paragon for ME1. I think I am currently only slightly higher in Paragon. Wonder how that effects things in the new game.

I know I wasn't able to get full Paragon with my full Renegade ME1 character until AFTER the point of no return.

The major changes are based on who you let live and die in the first one and whether you let the council live or die.

It would be more accurate to classify the default ME1 Shepard as a psycho killer, rather than Renegade. Everyone who could possibly die will die for the default Shepard. This includes major characters like the Council and Wrex, as well as minor characters such as Gianna Parasini, the Rachni Queen, Fist, Helena Blake etc. A whole bunch of minor characters make cameos in ME2 if they survive the first game.

On the whole, I'd say ME2 is more enjoyable with an imported save.

As i recall for L4D (2?) xbox owners had to pay for what we got for free. And 2.5 mil console users gave 15$ for 5 maps in CoD: MW2...

Console owners have all but been abandoned by Valve concerning TF2 too.

I seem to recall 360 TF2 not getting updates because of technical limitations on the 360?

I was speaking specifically about Mass Effect 2, I have no idea about the other games as I have not played any of them. Not even TF2.

I wouldn't exactly classify Shep as a psycho killer. Fist dies if Wrex is with you when you confront him, Shep does not pull the trigger, but you can either agree or disagree with the action. I don't remember any option to kill Giana Parasini, you can help her or not, but nothing where Shepard actively shoots her. Helena Blake run a criminal organization and if you choose the Paragon option and try to arrest her, she then attacks you (which is tantamount to suicide in this game). Wrex can be saved by either Paragon or Renegade provided you have enough of either points and a high enough persuade skill. So, Shep is not a psycho. There are underlying reasons for every move.

From what I heard, default Shepard is not really canon Shepard, but those choices were made so it would be easier for new people to play part 2 without having played part 1.

Well, okay, I see your point. But still, everyone who can die, dies.

Gianna Parasini can die if you turn her in to Administrator Anolais. She enters his office, a shoot-out occurs, both die. You then loot the pass you need off their corpses.
