I went go-karting today. The really fun kind that can get up to 40mph (and I did not drive well enough to qualify for the even faster karts.) While getting into the kart I was looking around for the non-existent seatbelt and burned my arm on the engine. Despite my idiocy getting into my ride, I still turned in some respectable lap times, and even lapped some people.
Thumbnail image of the burn is below, click for bigger version of what might leave a scar. There is some missing skin, and a bit of blistering, but I don't think it's going to be much of a problem. Could be a serious pain, literally, showering tomorrow, but unless it gets infected it should heal up pretty quickly. I'm going to do my best to keep it clean and avoid infection.
... I swear I can hear Kelso saying it, over and over...

Do you now get super powers related to a hot go-kart?

40 mph in a go kart & no seat belt? I guess in a go kart you'd rather get thrown clear. Looks like a hella burn there Pez, might wanna put some butter on it
In related news - my finger hurts like a mofo after deflecting a foul ball at a local minor league game last night. Sitting with seats looking down the first base line, my sister & I were idiots playing with our phones while a left handed hitter was at the plate. Someone close to us said "heads up" and I look up to see a foul ball coming at me. But it had some stank on it & was curling toward my sister. I reached up to try and catch it & just ended up muffing it mostly because I still had my phone in that hand & my fingers were curling around the phone. So now I have a split fingernail that I'm not gonna post pics of because my story is lame & I'm apparently some kind of pussy. Guess that's why they always told us pitchers not to try and field a comebacker with your bare hand. At least my nephew got to take home a foul ball.
While I am all for referencing Suburban Commando, I fail to see how this relates to the thread. Unless it's opposite day.

Silvadene can be your friend, burned my finger yesterday and that stuff worked like a charm.

Had a similar burn. Aloe vera "burn" lotion and Scar-Fade / Mederma should help. I don't have a scar at all-- though if my skin is red or darker from a tan you can see it a little bit.

Good thing no one brought any blue shells, knowhuddumsayin'.
Can you get that OTC now? Last I knew, and this was quite a few years ago, you had to get a prescription for it.

Been looking around, but it's still not OTC. But, we did get our doctor to give us a prescription for it (it's cheap cheap, $5) so that we can keep some on-hand. My wife has Renaud's Phenomenon that keeps her hands from feeling sudden changes in temperature and we use it when she does accidentally burn herself.

Ooh, Reynaud's? I get that in the colder months, especially after spending too much time typing. Something I got from my mom, whose notoriously bad circulation system showed up in cold feet.

Personally I'm wondering, if this scars do I need to go on some quest to regain my honor?
I can't find the serious rant thread, and I'm too tired to figure out anything but posting here. This morning I woke up walking on air after a fantastic dream, but then...
Just after noon I got a call from home; my sister found one of our cats drowned in the pool this morning. We don't even know how it happened. He's fallen in before and managed to get out on his own. My sister was alone in the house when this happened. My parents haven't even gotten home from the trip they were on. This is the third cat we've lost this month. Jake just disappeared, Barnum died from old age and now J.J. is gone as well. Jett Jackson was such a sweetheart. He'd always follow my sister whenever she went outside, like he was protecting her from the world, and he'd get made if she went into the woods alone. Inside, though, he became a big baby who wanted to be cuddled.
I miss him so much. I miss all of them. It feels like little bits of home are being taken away from me while I'm away.
