Here is a thread for stuff that makes you feel nostalgic.

I had a babysitter for a short period of time that would send us to take our nap while she would watch her soaps, and so I find this piece of music quite capturing:
It's a beautiful piece as is, but I don't think I would associate it so strongly with it if I didn't fall asleep to it so frequently as a child.

Specifically this version of Bohemian Rhapsody. My dad really didn't have a problem letting me watch most things when I was younger and I remember after watching this, every time the song came on while we were in the car we would do our best rendition of this.

Now, most of what I would've posted has already been posted here, mainly by Far. But I will add
to the list.
Also, these are older than I am, but I remember theseNFB shorts anyway. I think YTV used to show them in between programming or something... I also used to watch a great show called SPLAT! That showcased animated shorts.
What's awesome is that being in animation, I get to be nostalgic alot. I remember two years ago when my background painting teacher showed us the Magic School Bus opening cause he worked on it, and the entire year of 120 students (Well, not the international students) sang along to every word.

Oh, Far's posting Sonic made me think of this:

Creepy, used to play that a tonne as well AND I'm also hoping to get into animation myself.

Nostalgiac? How about Sunday Morning Marvel Mayhem!
And Hulk, Captain America, and Thor (don't want to waste all the vertical space). Still remember all those classic themes.
The Bixby Hulk theme, too (the Lonely Man Theme).
As well as these gems (some obscure, some not so).
(always had to wait for the cow to jump over the moon)
Kati would like to add the following:
She says it's a bit weird, since she feels nostalgic over a 70's show which was itself about nostalgia for a time 20yrs earlier.
I suppose it's like feeling nostalgic for That 70's Show.

And a montage of 90's commercials (which even come from a local TV affiliate where I grew up, so these commercials really bring back old memories):

OH MY GOD, the Watchamacallit commercial!
So it's videos... I was prepared to come in here talking about nerdy sweaters. They remind me of my childhood. I had hella nerdy sweaters. One was bright purple with a keyboard spread across the chest and arms.

Really, no one has posted this yet? I know I'm not the only here one who group in the 90s

And of course, my ultimate nostalgia:
(I prefer the theme from the second movie over the first. )
Growing too much, damn he is getting heavy.
Luiza is trying to get me to take a week off for our 2nd Honeymoon. How's the forum?

Shegokigo
I honestly just got back myself. Was on something like a 6-7 month hiatus after my split-up from my ex.
Forums are doing really well, lots of new blood, lots of old members still here. Still the best get-a-way online for me.
I say listen to the woman on that 2nd Honeymoon though. It can only mean good things. :uhhuh:-

The smell of BBQ Lays Potato chips...
It reminds me of days spent in the summer at the KofC pool. My folks would leave me enough cash for a coke and a bag of chips, like $0.35. Then over the past several years the joy of opening one of those bags was gone because of KC Masterpiece flavor... Now BBQ has been back for a while and about once a year I pop that bag open and all the memories come flooding back.

Good to see you again, O spawn-creating one. Helloes to Luiza and the little lady; and yes, I concur with Shegs. 2nd honeymoon = good things.

Yes I drank coffee at a really young young age...
Now I am slightly addicted.
Good memories.
Oh man, reading rainbow original theme. Good call.
Here's something for Dave...

Hee hee. It's funny 'cause he's old.

Damn, JCM! That kid of yours looks an awful lot like mine in that picture. It's actually pretty scary.
Also, two more injections of nostalgia...
...Eleven, Twelve!

I don't really know why there's a bible verse at the end, but I still love the sequence.
Really, I just realized that this might be the best thing ever. Not only is it Voltron forming his sword, but he slices up some kind of drill-for-nipples monster. Top it off with the first line from the description: "Like Voltron forms a blazing sword to slice it's enemies, so do Christians yield the sword of the Spirit"
and this might be my favorite thing.

I used to go nuts for this cartoon as a little kid, and in it one can find the origins of my love for gnomes, fairies and other small creatures, my love for trolls and, curiously, my irrational fear of insects getting inside my body. It does make me feel very very nostalgic.
Ninja turtles in catalan.
Els Bobobobs, some kind of star trek for liitle kids. If I'm not mistaken, Picard and this series captain share the same voice actor!
Los fruittis. A very crappy series wich I loved as a little kid.
Los trotamúsicos (the musicians of Bremen)
Willy Fog!
Dartacán y los tres mosqueperros.
Érase una vez la vida
And also the real ghostbusters, but as the intro has no lyrics and it has already been posted, I won't repost it.
Man, I used to watch a lot of european cartoons. You can't find as many right now on tv.
I think I'm done... I started and couldn't stop finding cartoons from my early childhood. I got goose bumps from listening to some of these songs.
+ Sentai and Cyberman dubs like Ninja Jiraya, Jaspion, changemen and Flashman (basically the grandfathers of the shows that Spawned Power rangers and the like) you've got my childhood TV watching schedule.
Silver, here's some more... the versions I grew up with, that is.
Il Était Une Fois... La Vie. Where I first saw a boob.
Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds.
Around the World with Willy Fog. Ahh, Princess Romy, your voice is like the that of angels...

+1 for Robotech. Used to watch that before school.

Used to watch that, every day before school in Elementary/Middle School.
And that every day before/after school in High School.

You 'n' Kati would get along just fine. She scored the entire first season for something like a buck at a garage sale and watched them all in one sitting.
At some point well into the marathon I think I yelled, "Just throw the freakin' tiara already!" from the other room.

My parents bought me Ecto Cooler just once. They said it was nothing but sugar and it would rot my teeth. They were right, but that's beside the point! All my friends had it!
#47
rabbitgod
I think I only had Ecto Cooler once. Maybe. I don't remember it at all so it's possible I never had.
We were so poor at the time that we never got anything like that.

Also, I get a warm feeling of childhood nostalgia when Mom, bless her heart, cooks one of my favourite dishes from my childhood. Meatballs and mashed potatoes... Pancakes with sugar and strawberry jam... Beef-and-dill sauce and potatoes, freshly cooked. Mmm, yummy. I've been trying to make these as well as she does for years, but I still can't get them just right.

Wow, SJ! Those videos DO give me goosebumps!
Also, it seems we had some really nice cartoons made here in Spain/Europe back in the eighties...

Apparently the whole series is FINALLY coming to DVD soon.
---------- Post added at 02:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:22 PM ----------
We used to have to watch this in school, and just about everyone I know who went to school in Ontario will occassionally find themselves singing the intro song.
I am still hoping what I heard through the grapevine is true and funimation is still in negotiations to re-license the entire thing with a re-dub, it will be amazing!
Disclaimer: Bones is a rabid anime fan, he owns more anime than any single person should.
I was trying to find the Canadian version to post here but it doesn't seem to be on youtube anywhere. (Its exactly the same, but the show was called "Beasties" up here)
Pink dildos make you nostalgic? Must have had an interesting childhood.

FUCK YEAH BEAST WARS, PEEPS.
Also, this song makes me feel nostalgic:
This may sound retarded, but Moby was my first musical love. Well, aside from Stevie Ray Vaughan (yeah, weird combo, I know).
Also:
I watched Hook so much when I was a snapper of whips; we used to fast-forward through the bit where Hook puts a gun to his head. I got that shit on DVD now, it fuckin' rules, GATdamn.

Here's a tune which sends me down memory lane. It was used as the theme music for Silk Road, a japanese-produced historical documentary series that was a must-see for me around the age of 10. I couldn't find the actual intro for the series, but just the music is plenty enough for me.
All these, just about everything else posted here, and a whole host of other things I don't have time to look up.

I know it isn't the same, but seeing all my friends from the old days hanging out and having a good time was very nostalgiac. This was definitely a shot in the arm I needed. Good to see my old friends having a good time.

Oh yeah, another huge wave of nostalgia here:
I used to have this movie recorded off of TV on VHS. I watched it so many times, that when I put a DVD in, during certain scenes I expect there to be a cut to a commercial. Freaky shit, yo. RIP Peter Ustinov, you friggin' ruled.

I don't think my posting 80's porn would be welcome here

this isn't the actual one I was trying to find. The one I was thinking of was a bunch of teenagers trying and failing to get the song right. It had been taped along with an episode of TMNT that I watched all the time as a child. I also thought it was amusing because we rarely ever got McDonald's when I was a kid.
I watched the movies on this all the time as a kid... after my grandma fell asleep. Oh Vice Cops your hysterical sexual antics entertained me so and most likely scarred me for life.
i own the entire thing on dvd, because its THAT FRICKIN AWESOME!

I'm clearly younger than most of you, so my piece of nostalgia is a little newer, but I loved this so much when I was little. Probably why I bawled my eyes out nonstop during the third one, like I lost it during the first scene and never got it back.

It makes some sense to me that Toy Story would classify as Nostalgia; I would have only been 8 or 9 when it came out. But it seems so much more recent than that. It makes me feel incredibly old whenever I'm reminded that that movie was 15 years ago.

It makes you feel old? I was in high school when that thing came out. It took me a second to process the fact that anyone young enough to look back on that movie nostalgically would be old enough to participate regularly on these boards.
