PS Vita

I have found myself the unexpected owner of a PS Vita, so... What the hell can I do with it? Recommend me some games!

I can't recall. Are the Vitas reverse compatible?

If not, I'd say sell it for a regular PSP so you can at least get more games to play.

Play ps1 games and psp games. I've had one since release and haven't got much use out of it. Played uncharted, which was decent but felt like a dumbed down version of the originals. Assassins creed looks good. Katamari is good if you like those games. It is rather short though.

Its also going to feature a level based on the first movie too! Please oh dark forces if they translate this- LET IT BE THE SABAN ACTORS! Jeff Nimoy- ROCKS!

Sell it to Gamestop or something before it's completely valueless.

That thing is straight dead in the water.

Update:

I've found a ton of awesome psn games to load on this thing for tons of fun, and I also picked up Persona 4 Golden, which is awesome. It also came with this awesome skin.

I loved Persona 1 & 2 (both parts), did they stay good in 3 and 4? There's so many versions of 3 I wouldn't even know which one to get.

Funny thing, I saw someone with a Persona 4 box today! Craaaaaaaaaaazy world. Or its just a popular franchise, its all good in the hood. QUESTION TO ANYONE WHOSE PLAYED IT- does it really crib off of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure in any way? Not saying that its bad, in fact if there is some evidence that this has Araki inspiration I'll buy every game involved in the franchise!

I picked up Persona 3 Portable. It lacks the fully animated anime cutscenes (reducing them to semi-animated stills) but includes a number of gameplay improvements, like the ability to control your entire party rather than AI controlled party members. Some more of them game, I'm told, is streamlined, with overworld areas being more like a point and click adventure than physically walking an avatar around, but I'm told the content is unchanged, as there was no real interaction in those sections anyway.

As for Persona 4, I got the Golden Edition, and it's the only one I know. Just look at this intro, so many colors!

If this were an anime, I'd totally watch it.[DOUBLEPOST=1353478655][/DOUBLEPOST]

Persona 4 Golden for the PS Vita released today (or yesterday, depending on your timezone), so it's not unusual that you would see someone with a box.

I haven't played 1&2, but I know 3&4 are huge departures from them, gameplay wise. There is a huge social element in the games where you need to build relationships with other people to make your persona more powerful (and to unlock the ultimate forms of some tarot). It also plays much more like a traditional JRPG.

Persona 3 is a bit more morose and depressing than Persona 4, but that follows it's theme very well. If you want to try it, get ether Persona 3: FES for the PS2 (which has extra content, including an epilogue chapter that reveals the ultimate fate of the main character) or Persona 3 Portalable (P3P) for the PSP, which has the option of playing as a female MC, which changes some tarot and social links completely.

Persona 4 is much happier and the theme is all about what Truth really is. If you want to try it, get Persona 4: The Golden on PS Vita, as it has extra content. Alternatively, you can also watch Persona 4: The Animation (which changes some things, but tells the same basic story). I especially like how it handles the battles with the forces responsible for the murders.[DOUBLEPOST=1353478966][/DOUBLEPOST]

It IS an anime! The first of the English Dub (which I believe uses most of the same voice cast as the games) came out on Sept. 18th.

It's actually fairly good as a series too. They don't really have filler episodes (except for 1 that actually happens IN GAME and another 2 which cover what Yu (the MC) and Nanako did during their Summer Break, which covers most of the social links the story doesn't cover). It also covers some things only hinted at in the game.

Damn damn shame...

Cool, cool. So in the Persona games, some people who kill themselves get Personas right? I just find it funny because this along with Akira are two Japanese franchises that involve getting super-powers through less than reputable behavior.

I don't mean this like a Facebook game. I mean you literally need to find characters in-game (who each represent one of the Tarot, which are how Persona are divided up), get to know them over time, help them with their issues, and by doing so you rank up your "Social Link" with them, which represents how well you understand that person.

For instance, if you spend time with Yosuke after school, you'll learn what his life is like as the son of the manager at the big chain store that is basically destroying Inabe's main street stores. By doing this you rank up your Magician Social Link, which gives Magician-type monsters extra XP when they are fused. At max level you can summon the ultimate Persona of the Magician group. It also makes Yosuke a better fighter, giving him new abilities over time like taking a fatal hit in your stead, performing a follow-up attack on downed enemies, and eventually upgrading his Persona into a stronger form that doesn't have an elemental weakness.

This is all on top of the normal RPG dungeon aspect that you do in order to save the murder victim of that month (which can you do in the afternoon instead of working on your social links or working a job).[DOUBLEPOST=1353481479][/DOUBLEPOST]

No, not at all. Personas are a natural reflection of a human's Will over it's Shadow (think Jungian dream theory). Not everyone can use them though... they usually need some means of manifesting them. In Persona 3 they do this with technology, using Invoker guns that basically fire psychological trauma into someone's brain to bring them out (I have NO IDEA how this works). In Persona 4, the power to use a Persona comes from confronting one's own Shadow in the TV World and accepting that they are a real part of your personality. No matter how you do it, you only get to summon a single, unchanging Persona unless your self-identity changes.

The people who are exempted from this are the main characters, who are "wild cards", which allows them to summon multiple Persona. This is because of quirks involved with how they were exposed to the power of Persona to begin with... which I won't go into because of SPOILERS.

Much love for Persona 3. I was so upset when my UMD broke (a month away from the end of the game) and then ecstatic when it was on PSN for download.

Persona 4 is really my Vita game. It's currently the only reason I'll eventually get one.
