Well, this year is off to a shitty start. James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and voiced The Shredder in the original Ninja Turtles cartoon, died this morning at the age of 65. :(

I...thought he was already dead?

Oh wait, I was confusing him with Mr. Belvedere.

:(

I saw an interview where he talked about being The Shredder. Not only did he have just pure fun playing the role, but he loved the unexpected fame from it when people recognized him like 10 years after the cartoon had ended.

Damn. :(

Now we can't cast him as Coach in a Left 4 Dead movie.

Reginald VelJohnson is still alive. He's almost as good... if only we can keep him form shooting another kid.

To the man who made one of the most iconic voices in cartoon villainy, may he rest in peace.

I couldn't find the full clip, but starting at 3:25 was my favorite Uncle Phil clip.
