As I don't like country, and I live in Dixie motherfucking County, I don't have anything to add to this.

I can't think of any others that are about Toronto but this one, which doesn't even have lyrics:
(YYZ= Toronto Pearson International Airport)
The Downbelows had a number of songs about Toronto, their first (and as far as I know, only) CD was even itself named after a Toronto intersection. But I can only find ONE of their songs on youtube and it's not about T.O.
And definitely, nobody's written any songs about my home town. But there are a few that might as well be.
Not ABOUT Toronto, but tangentally related and a fun fact for Americans who may not know, this is how Barenaked Ladies got discovered:
We used to have a show called "Speakers Corner", and what it was, was there was a booth in Toronto at the CTV building you could walk in, pay a loonie, and get a certain amount of time to do whatever you want; rant like an insane person, entertain with a song, a skit, a comedy routine, perform a puppet show, whatever. Somebody at CTV would look through the submissions and edit together a half hour show that aired once a week. It was kind of like YouTube before there was a Youtube. Barenaked Ladies got started on that.
Best thing I saw was some lady ranting about all the people who went on there to sing, and saying "Stop coming into the booth to play your crappy song, you're not going to get discovered that way. It doesn't happen, alright?" etc. They then immediately cut to BNL playing the first recorded rendition of "If I Had a Million Dollars"

Hmmmm.....
Well,
ugh....
Someone else...
urg, way too generic alternative....
I need someone that was big, influential, a legend. Someone that could blow away the likes of the Beastie Boys and even Rush...
Bam! James Brown, motherfuckers!

Not from my hometown, instead from a few miles (literally) NE of me, but that'll have to count.

Are we just talking bands FROM our towns? I thought we were doing SONGS ABOUT our towns.
Pretty sure there's quite a lot more from Toronto. For starters:
Hell, I'm pretty sure at least half of Steppenwolf is from the Toronto area.

The only song I could find about Modesto:
If you want to know more about life in the Modesto area in the 60's, watch American Graffiti.

both. People from the nearest major city (obviously I'm not repping Lemont, I'm repping Chicago) or songs that are about your city. Though I lean on the former much more than the latter. Plenty of out-of-towners have tried the whole Chicago thing, with various result.
