Okay, you all know me and the fact that no matter what I hate taking. So here's what I'm going to do. I'm restarting the Monthly Contests but with a slight twist.

I've gotten an addon called the Donation Manager. It will allow me to receive and count the number of donations. Here are the rules.

A ticket into the Monthly Contest costs $5. Buy as many as you want. Yes, the system will allow you to purchase weird numbers, but these will be rounded down to the nearest $5 amount. So if you purchase $12 worth of tickets, that's only 2 entries. You can also donate anonymously, but what the hell, man? Why would you DO that? You'd get no entries at all!

Anyway, each contest will run about the 1st of the month to the last day of the month. At that time I will randomly draw a winner. The winner will get a prize based on amount donated:

• $0 - Winner gets nothing. Because nobody gave anything. Hey, I'm not dumb!
• $5 - 40 - Winner gets item worth up to $20 from some place like ThinkGeek. Or even Halforums swag. Did I say Halforums swag?!? Holy shit, what has Dave been working on?!?
• $45-75 - Winner gets a game of his/her choice (up to a $40 value). Hell, really it can be anything of a like value. But games are so easy for me to do through Steam or Direct2Drive. It also may include some swaggy items.
• $80-120 - Winner gets a game or item up to $60 value.
• $125+ - Winner gets 1/2 total take from teh contest donations. Might be a sizable amount. Who knows?

Remaining money will go to site software and server costs.

Note that prizes will be determined by ME when I find out at the end of the month how much moolah I have to work with. I'll determine the winner through random drawing and then post in the thread:

Person X has won the January Contest! He/She wins a shiny new Item Y!!

Of course, before I do any of this I want your thoughts. Do you think this is a good idea? Or do you think it's dumb? Or did you like contests where I made some arbitrary competition and then gave something out as a prize?

Tell me what you want to see or if this idea totally turns you off.

I like it but what I'm MOST interested in is the availability of new Halforums swag!

And for those whose comics may appear on the swag, I MAKE NO MONEY FROM THEM! I have the commission/markup set for $0. I might make a buck or two out of logo gear, but NOTHING that has any of your comics. I just added them because I thought you'd think it's cool to have your creations on products...

I agree. It's kind of a lottery and I think that's a smart way to do this, with people feeling like they're helping, participating, and possibly winning something all at once.

Oddly enough, this is the only durr face I have other than the one in the logo.

So far I have the stuff in 4 categories: Durr Clothes, Durr Gear, Halforums Apparel & Halforums Gear.

Durr Clothes - Nothing but the Durr face. No site address, no comics. Just a boring face. Not even pimping the site, ya lazy bums.
Durr Gear - Just like Durr Clothes, but on non-clothes stuff.
Halforums Apparel - Like Durr Clothes, but has the site address and/or logo.
Halforums Gear - You guessed it! Like Halforums Apparel, but on non-clothing stuff.

Add a Halforums.com to under the durr face stuff. Just not in gaudy letters like in the headphones one.

I have some non-headphones stuff in there.

Just to note, if you're gonna do hoodies and shirts and things, use ooshirts.

I just did the Durr face, full color on a white hoodie, and it's only $27.08 for 0ne, which is a bit better than the $35. Also, it costs less per piece if you do a bunch. ;P Just sayin'.

I do a lot of merchandising for our con so I try to know where to get cheap stuff. :|

PS: If you do only a few solid colors instead of full color, it'll be even cheaper.

Just looked at that. The problem I have with ooshirt is that I would have to take orders, place the orders and then have them delivered. Unless you know of a way to set up an item link from here.

Everything is open. Contest can be joined by clicking teh "Donations" tab and you can access the store by either going here: http://www.printfection.com/halforums or by clicking the link "Forum Store" under "Forum Stuff".

I just wish there were some way to set up multiple payments per item so if I did a Juski the money would go to you, a fistful of fists to the author, etc.

I wouldn't mind money!...also, here's the batch that I have. Make stuff!

Juski has full rights to the store so if he wants to make an item for ordering he can. All proceeds of Juski gear go to Juski.

Which means that by buying something of mine, you're paying a terrible person money.
