Thought this would be a most humoring thread. Since I don't work as much now due to heading back to college in 3 weeks
I have picked up playing Spore again at least until Arkham Asylum and Uncarted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

I finally reached the galactic space stage. I never got into it much since I enjoyed playing the tribal and civilization stage instead.

But now its slightly interesting since I like establishing trade routes and then buying them out or destroying and conquering a civilization
on my romp through the galaxy. Usually I use my economic might to purchase systems instead.

Although now its cool since I recently acquired this type of missile thats a black hole weapon.

Are you supposed to hop through the black holes throughout the galaxy or merely make your way to the center of the universe by working your way down the spiral arm?

My current mission now is to find the Grox but I don't where the heck they are.

For the Blackholes, yes, if you jump into them, they will bring you closer to the center (or anywhere really). You may want to make not of which black holes bring you where and be sure you have one high end engines or you will run out of fuel.

For the Grox, the closer to the center you go, the more of them there are. Good luck with that.

Why are the Grox really that hard to defeat?

Or are they like the Borg?

The Grox have been around since before your own planet's life begins. They got long runnings.

So a higher sentient being like the species who invented the monolith in Clarkes 2001 series?
Plus do you have to eradicate them all to reach the center of the universe?

So you DID end up buying it.

Err, there's three ways to go here.

1) Ally with the Grox (Hard but doable) and in doing so earn the hatred of every other race in the entire galaxy.

2) Kill the Grox, which is VERY VERY VERY VERY hard, since they pretty much control the entire center of the galaxy (If you terraform a planet past t-0 though, they die, easy enough to do, but you may have to die a ton).

3) Load up on health + energy packs and hop past the Grox to the center

When I was playing it, I mixed #2 & #3. I found a wormhole that brought me fairly close, killed a few planets around the area so I had a safe resting spot, then just jumpped to the center as fast as possible. The grox are numerous, but that's about their only real advantage.

It was kind of a let down for all the 'work' it took, but hey, that's Spore for ya.
