I was shocked to hear on the news today that Mark Linkous, the singer/songwriter behind Sparklehorse killed himself this Saturday. I used to have this song set as my alarm in the morning:
Probably my favorite song of his is King of Nails
Mark had an amazing strength with words, making painfully poetic lyrics like
the toothless kiss of skeletons
and the summer hail
I'm the king of nails
I drink my liquor from the palm
of a child who spoke in tongues
and smelled like sun
