Russell Crowe as Robin Hood? I don't know, man...

No thanks.
It's already been done, and done right.

Yeah I'm not really feeling this one. Which is a shame because I love the Hood and was looking forward to another version.
It seems to me that there are a lot of big battles. Only seemed to be one quick clip that hinted at the usual sneakery of Robin and his Merry Men (when the tree falls on the soldier. maybe the bit where they pop up out of the water.)

I don't know if that's his Merry Men. I think more of this focuses on him in the Crusades and... they're storming Normandy?

THIS...IS...SHERWOOD!!!

These should be another trailer in a month or two with more plot based information.
Until then.... THIS IS SHERWOOD

Anyonelse no longer able to believe Russel Crowe in a role and just see "Russel Crowe"?
#12
Shegokigo
I mean, it works for Nic Cage, cause I like watch his movies to watch Nic Cage be Nic Cage being someonelse.

You know, I thought the same way. That this would only work with a backstory telling how the Hood is the direct descendant of Maximus, or that Maximus was actually in a coma and was then transported by aliens to 12th century England where he finds Commodus now ruling as the Sheriff of Nottingham.
And when a trailer makes you think that... it's time to walk away.

Looks fun enough. I know my younger brother will shut a brick when he sees the trailer...that fucker has a hard n for russell crowe and movies like this

Looks solid to me. Going from this footage it seems like a movie I'd enjoy seeing.
Nope. Don't feel that way. But Nicolas Cage...
You should watch Virtuosity.

He just does not look like the guy that will laugh in your face and put an arrow through your heart at the same time. Errol Flynn will always be the best Robin Hood. The next best one is Cary Elwes. ^See fade.

Looks dumb as shit. I won't see it.
Mark my words this is going to make a lot of money and suck out loud.

Every since Sean Connery played the Old Assed Robin Hood, Hollywood has taken the joy out of the roll. They play him more like Batman (I has sad and sullen,) instead of a Good-guy Joker.
I may have caught bits 'n pieces of episode here 'n there but not enough to make any judgement on it. I'm not a big fan of the whole Robin Hood tale, living in the woods is not my idea of fun or romantic.. just gross.
Seen it when it first aired, loved it then and love it now on DVD. It has great flair, evil bad guys and of course there is John Rhys Davies as on hardcore Richard Lionheart.
But it all ended with the vanishing of the first Hood, the young Connery never was any good and the franchise was done for.

I have to say I loved The Prince of Thieves when I was younger - and when Kevin Costner had yet to flush his career down the proverbial toilet. But still, it was a movie with humour, action and romance - not just one of those.
And yes, Erroll Flynn and Cary Elwes both rule as well.
It's not really the final trailer. It's more of those kind of sneak peaks. There should be a more story based one in a month or two.

Yeah. It doesn't look bad to me--just not very Robin hood-y. But you never know. Honestly, I haven't seen Russel Crowe in much, so I don't have a very strong opinion about him either way.

This is one of the many reasons Errol Flynn will ALWAYS be the best Robin Hood. People should laugh like this more often.

SpecialKO
Could be cool. I loved Kingdom of Heaven, and enjoyed Gladiator.
But I fourth the love for the Erroll Flynn version. And this version won't have Alan Rickman as the Sheriff.

Shegokigo
I stand by my previous statement, but add that I too enjoyed Kingdom of Heaven and Gladiator enough that I own them both.
Alan Rickman was a badass though! I though he was the best part of that movie.
I'm with pretty much everyone else on this. It just seems kind of meh. I don't like seeing the crusades romanticized. It was a jacked up event. I would much rather see him and his bunch running around in the woods like Ewoks.
That's awesome too, but I haven't been able to watch the title sequence since Hamster Dance became a meme.

Soliloquy
I'll probably enjoy this, but yeah, this isn't much like the robin hood I know and love. But then again, the robin hood I know and love isn't much like the original centuries-old stories, so all's good.

International Trailer is Out now.... AND FAR BETTER.
Shades of Maximus. OH MY GOD

Wow....really taking some liberties with the story there huh?
I'm getting the feeling that you would watch any movie as long as it had Russell Crowe in it. When he makes the eventual decline to acting in family friendly kiddie movies, I will think of you; screaming in horror.

I watched him in that RomCom with that french chick.... One Good Year. It's pretty much crap in my books but goddamn I got a man crush for him.
Ya I'm bumping this shit... 2 more months to AN AWESOME MOVIE!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

This one looks pretty good but didnt I see one of the female actresses from the Lord of the Rings movie play Maid Marrian?
I still thought Prince of Thieves was cool as well as a young kid. That witch was just creepy.

I'll actually get to see this early at my school, with the editor coming in to talk a bit about the film after it's over.

Iron Man 2 this weekend!
Unfortunately, even the very fine Cate Blanchette can't get this beyond "rent it" status with me.

Eh, I've got a friend who looks for violence in a movie above all else, so he'll probably want me to come along with him to watch it.
And hey, kingdom of heaven was good, so this might be too.

Kingdom of Heaven was fantastic. I expect nothing less from this movie.

Gotta say, I wasn't really interested, but now I kinda want to see it. It looks like it would be fun, at least. I already have a concert and a party lined up this weekend. Maybe I could go for a movie too.
Yeah, for a while, my brothers and I started crying out "GOD WILLS IT!" every time we were about to do something incredibly stupid. Great fun, that.

Just watched the movie. It was... an interesting take of pre-Robin Hood. The buildup was SOLID, the middle was odd, the ending was great though I shall reserve some qualms about the movie for now. I enjoyed it, though not as much as Kingdom of Heaven or Gladiator, however Crowe was awesome... Blanchette always looks bored. Overall, Jay is happy.
I wish the previews weren't showing critical moments of the film, I sadly was thinking about a specific moment and didn't get surprised by the swerve.
