Could you burn diamonds like charcoal to fire up a grill, and how much would it cost to cook a steak to well-done that way?
So the ignition point of diamonds is around 800-1000 C (about ten times the boiling point of water). At that point the steak would be flash-fried, sooooo...probably not that expensive since you could just skip the whole "diamond" part of that equation. (And who doesn't like instant steak?)
Neuroscience, if I remember correctly, right?
Yep, neuroscience (specifically, cellular and molecular neuroscience).
How's grad school? Have you reached the "self-loathing/what am I doing this for" stage yet?
I have not. I've reached the "WHY THE F**K ISN'T THIS SONOFAB*TCHING EXPERIMENT WORKING" stage many times, but I still love science, love the process, and think it's the most amazing thing in the world when I learn something that no one else in the world knows.
How do you take your coffee?
With vanilla creamer and a bunch of chocolate powder. Alternately, black with lots of sugar. (I refer to coffee as "Science Fuel.")
