I recently unearthed my massive horde of Pokemon trading cards, and I'm currently getting them all organized into a huge binder. Organizing by card set, holo, 1st ed., error cards, etc.

Query: How do I unload these and make some kind of money? I probably don't have anything exceptionally rare.

Create an Kids Television show centered around playing card games, where they tell the viewes how awsome this is every 20 seconds...

seriously though,go to a card shop where these people gather. You might find a couple of buyers.

Actually card shop junkies tend to only want to buy single cards and not collections.

For a collection sale, you're looking at Craigslist or Ebay.

The card shop itself might be willing to either buy the collection or sell it for you on consignment. Probably just as good (or better) than selling via Ebay unless you put the effort into figuring out exactly how much your collection is worth.

From what I've heard the people who put out Pokemon try to keep secondary market prices low by reprinting valuable cards, so you probably won't make huge money on your collection.

They'll usually buy bulk collections of commons that have been sorted, but we're talking pennies on the dollar and usually only for certain things like resource cards (like Energy in Pokemon or Lands in Magic). But if your trying to unload uncommons or rares, they generally aren't going to want to buy a stack of them.

Any good way to determine value of single cards? I keep finding various sites that all say vastly different things. Is there a hard-set agreed-upon value somewhere?

Inquest used to be pretty good about printing card values, but I don't know if it's still in print. Look for a card games magazine in the magazine rack at your local grocery store or newspaper stand. They are usually pretty up to date on values.

Hmm. Maybe I'll finally be able to unload my half dozen MtG binders. Honestly haven't touched them in probably 10 years.
