Shogun 2 Total War: Stella Got Her Groove Back

Downloaded this a couple nights ago and have been playing the bejeezus out of it. It is....AWESOME. The AI is (finally) quality, which is all that the total war series has needed for a long time. I think the way they fixed that was to limit the number of units/size of the world.

I've been following this game for a while and I wish I could play it. Sadly, my computer is not up to the task. How has the AI improved? Is it better all around, or just in battles, or what?

Even if I had my PC here, I couldn't run it because it's too slow. I really, REALLY want to play this game.
