Sean Bean is playing Ned Stark...AWESOMENESS!!! And Mark Addy (from "A Knight's Tale" and that random sitcom whose name I can't remember) is King Robert. Makes sense. Harry Lloyd, who played Will Scarlett in the BBC's "Robin Hood" series, is Viserys, and Kit Harrington is Jon Snow.

Now, I can see all of those, but I have no idea who the hell Kit Harrington is. To IMDB! AWAY!!!

So, news on the "Game of Thrones" miniseries...

I believe it is a 14 year winter not a 40 year winter that is approaching. Still very excited to see this, also Sept. 29th cannot get here fast enough dammit. The next book Also Mark Addy is not nearly large enough to play King Robert,

Yeah, I noticed that little slip-up too.

EDIT: And I agree that Mark Addy is just a little too skinny to be King Robert. There is only one man with a large enough body and personality to be him...BRIAN BLESSED!!!

Sean Bean is a rather unfortunate choice, IMHO: [spoiler:tqth0jru]That way no one will be surprised when he dies [/spoiler:tqth0jru].

Every time Robert spoke I heard Brian Blessed's voice in my head. Too bad I won't get to hear it for real :-(

There's a Black and White picture of Kit Harrington here: http://grrm.livejournal.com/95840.html but I imagine most of the younger roles will be played by relative unknowns.

Its not so much that he is too skinny but that he is too short, Mark Addy is only 5'10". Robert is described as a giant of a man who has gone to seed. Needs to be at least 6'3" or taller.

This series is going to be awesome.

This isn't going to be a miniseries; it's intended to be a full-blown HBO series with, hopefully, seven seasons--one for each book.

GRRM hasn't even finished the book yet. There's no way we'll be seeing Dance before 2010. http://grrm.livejournal.com/92848.html

Oh, and just in case anybody didn't know, Peter Dinklage is playing Tyrion Lannister.
