Something about a "Super Bowl"

Sounds like a weird name, but I guess I might give it a shot. Might as well, right? These new things have to start somewhere and who knows, it may turn into some sort of big deal every year.

I adore all the local commercials that can't call it the Superbowl and are all like "BUY A NEW TV FOR THAT BIG GAME ON SUNDAY BETWEEN THAT TEAM FROM PITTSBURGH AND GREEN BAY"

Yeah, I know. The Packers played in this post-season exhibition the year I was born. Silly thing. They couldn't get fans to attend the game at the LA Coliseum, and the ratings stunk - considering the game was being broadcast on two networks. Heck, they only had some marching band play during halftime.

I'm so excited for this game. I'm going to my friend's place and we'll be partaking in some Guinness beef stew. Win or lose, we win.

I was going to make Beef Stew, but this Guinness version sounds better. You have a recipe handy?

Going to a party at a friend from church's house. Bringing some mini-dogs wrapped in crescent rolls. Gonna be fun.

Talked to a Steelers fan last night at church. We both agreed it's gonna be a good game. He didn't know about Troy Polamalu and his stitched-in cross over his nameplate on his jersey.

Still my favorite Super Bowl memory:

I'm rooting for the Packers because Weezy told me to.

I hope the football team wins it this year.

Is Michael Jordan playing? I bet he'll get the puck into eighteenth hole!

Time to bring that trophy home where it belongs.

Welcome back, Mr. Lombardi. We missed you. :)

You'd like my Facebook status. I said that the trophy is coming home, we just let everyone else borrow it.

Just cause the trophy's named after Vince Lombardi doesn't make it the property of cheese eating rednecks in Wisconsin. Technically the Red Skins could say the same thing.

"Congratulations Packers, you did it. Now the bad news, you still live in Green Bay." - Homer Simpson

I sat here trying to think of the meanest response I could considering how mind numbingly trollish and childish that post is, but I think I'll just say this:

SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS, THE GREEN BAY PACKERS.

Yay! it still means that the Cowboys are with in striking distance of getting the lead in # of Super Bowl wins.

The Packers have a better chance since they're, ya know, a good team.

Now hold on there! Pittsburgh has a very good team. Early on their penalties were hurting them more than anything, allowing Green Bay to get 21 points to the 3 Pittsburgh had. However, Green Bay's Defense, though good, did not perform as well as it had in past games. Ben had a crap ton of time to make passes and they had a much superior running game.

On the other side, Green Bay lost Woodson early on with a broken collar bone. The Green Bay offensive line struggled to give Rodgers time to fire off passes and the receivers were missing catches high school students would have made.

Overall, a very good game that could have gone either way.

Oh, by the way- Pittsburgh needs a new field goal kicker. That guy was craptacular.

Childish is saying the the Lombardi trophy is exclusively Green Bay's - as in no other team is dignified to win it but the Packers... I could argue your post was being trollish. Your team won. Good for you.

I didn't write the second part of my post, Matt Greoning did as a Simpson's tweet via Twitter.

He was saying that the Packers are better than Dallas.

That's horse shit Mathias, but whatever. History shows you are going to drive this into the ground until someone gets infractions or banned unless I simply ignore it from now on. I think I'll just do that.

I would just like to note that there are multiple Lombardi Trophies. I assure you the past 44 winners still have theirs (except for one won by the Baltimore Colts that stayed in Baltimore after the move).

Nah nah, just let that shit go. If you want a discussion, I'm more interested in other viewpoints on the analysis of the game I made.

It was a good game, but nothing really amazing or special to talk about. Just two good teams playing good football.

Eh. I dunno how much weight to give those ancient titles. Weren't there like 6 teams back then?

A kid who works on one of the ESPN radio shows tweeted "worst FG miss ever?" last night. Does he not pay attention to his own network? How many times do they run the SB VII highlight of Garo Yepremian's craptacular miss that nearly cost the Dolphins that perfect season?

Also bah.I'm already over it. Pitchers and catchers report in a week.

Every time he'd be up to kick, someone in our group would yell afterward...
"LACES OUT, DAN!"

Yes, a couple of us said the same thing just as they snapped, and the camera switched to the hold...
