Okay, I already knew the galaxy editor was going to be way better then any map editor that Blizzard released in the past, but I had no idea it would be this powerful to make some of these mods. I posted a few in the other thread, but I decided this stuff was so neat it deserved it's own thread without the Heart of the Swarm title. Check out the other thread for a few unique ones I am not copying over here, like a remake of Fl0w and Tetris in the SC2 engine.

I see a lot of possibilities coming out of this. Oh, and you can also do this...

Someone made Metal Slug in the Galaxy Editor. And it looks fucking awesome! Going to have to download it when I have time tomorrow.

As someone aspiring to eventually have a position of creative authority in a game company, I'm struggling with whether or not I should delve into the StarCraft editor or not. It could potentially be a gold mine of game development opportunities, especially since they'll eventually be letting you sell content, but I was just barely getting the hang of an actual independent game engine.

Well, I am sad. I finally got into the editor, and it looks really awesome. But I really can't make the game I wanted to unless I create my own units and animations. I wanted two human characters (preferably female) who relied entirely on psionics to get stuff done (no weapons or power suits). The civilian female works pretty well. But her animations are incredibly basic and boring. They work for a random extra unit you never focus on in the campaign, but it's pretty sad for a main character. And all the similarly unarmed characters (prisoners, scientists, etc) have pretty much the same deal.

I'm trying to decide how big a deal that is. I could just make a different game (I've been considering a "grand theft auto"-ish game where that uses Rory Swanson as this guerrilla engineer who runs around an enemy city, hijacking vehicles and other technological stuff. It would be cool. But I was really hoping my psionics game would be workable.

I suppose I could argue that the fact that they have no fancy animations makes it sorta cooler. Like, all this cool psionic stuff happens around them and they don't even have to move.
