Steam help

Ok, so i finally got my password right, and it works is i log in from Firefox etc, but if i try to login from the Community tab in the steam window it just reverts to the login screen, no error or anything reported. Any ideas why?

Heat water. That's the best way to fix Steam.


Seriously, though, you'll probably have to reinstall the client or call them for help.

As there seems to be nothing else wrong with it i don't care enough to do either... just wondering what's up... (the client loads and logs in just fine, i just can't log in from the community window)

Do they have a troubleshooting FAQ? I'd check that.

Are you having trouble with Internet Explorer? I think Steam uses IE as it's browser.

Not that i know of, but i'm not using IE much...

Hmm... maybe i have the security setting too high or something...

If that's the case, good, it was the not knowing that worried me, works fine just using Ff outside of Steam...

Do they have a troubleshooting FAQ? I'd check that.

That one is mostly about general connectivity issues... and i didn;t feel like wasting all that time reading it in-depth.

It's apparently a known bug with a small number of accounts.

Their solution:

1) Double-check the login credentials (they should be the same ones used in the steam client).
2) Verify your browser is allowing our site to set a cookie.
3) Post in the forums or contact support; they are really good at this stuff.

Like i said, i had forgotten my password, so this part i had to figure out beforehand...

Seeing how they're using IE this must be it... and as i don't want to bother with it i'll just log in there from Firefox... 10x for the help.
