I just bought Dragone Age II and Dawn of War Retribution on steam, downloaded them and cant get them to work. At all.
Ill try to launch the game, and every time it will tell me "installing directX" as a "first time set up"....then poof. Nothing. Window disappears and game doesnt launch.
So
I've tried redownloading the game (DA), I've tried deleting everything in the steam folder except a few essentials to make steam update itself. I've tried even deleting directX in the registry and try to let steam redownload it for me to no avail.
Any suggestions? Never had this happen before with any other steam purchase.
Oh one more thing. When I downloaded DA 2, in the configuration menu, it said I "don't have the correct version of direct x to play" despite dxdiag saying I have DX 11 (Im running windows 7 64 bit). When I deleted direct X from my registry and tried launching from steam again, I checked the configuration again and suddenly that error was gone. Odd. Also I've already restored my system to a point previous to the directX deleting.
I just spent $100 on games and i want to play, damn it.
