So Atari/Cryptic had a great deal going. Buy Star Trek online before March 3rd and get ten dollars off and 60 additonal free days. Woo Hoo. That right there is a bargain, glad I waited. But wait, I go back to the page to buy and the 60 free days part of the deal is gone (though the $10 off is extended until the 10th). Hmmm, maybe I misread that, let me do some checking.

Hmm, it looks like I'm not the only one who saw it, so what happened?

"Even worse, rumors and unconfirmed pieces of evidence are beginning to spring up, which allegedly shows customer support claiming there was never any offer of an additional 60 days of game time."

Hmmm, wait a second, you can't use the old Jedi mind trick in the Star Trek Universe, it doesn't work like that.

It looks like it was a sale. And now it's over. Sales don't last forever. They probably handled it poorly because it pissed off the early adopter folks who didn't get the free time. Looks like Cryptic is confirming that anyone who bought the advertised special will get it.

I've heard many voicing concerns that we will not be honoring this sale for anyone who took advantage of it this weekend. This is not the case at all, and anyone who decided to take advantage of the offer will receive what they purchased, as advertised.
I read the forums and all i saw was typical MMORPG user wwaaaaarrrrgarble over some people possibly getting some perceived advantage that they didn't get. Boo freaking hoo.

Yes but the sale was supposed to last until the 3rd.

I bet there will be a thing in the small print saying they reserve the right to pull the offer at any time, I think that clause is fairly common.

I'm so conflicted over this, I do like trek, but I'd need to upgrade the beast in order to run the game.

Maybe I should jsut wait for The old Republic...

(Shrug) sh!t happens.

It's not nearly as big of a deal as the wharrrgarbl guys try to make it. But then again, that's MMORPG forumites for you. Every time I go into an mmo forum, I end up with an overwhelming compulsion to stomp a 14 year old kid in the face.

It is a sales. It is subject to change at any time. I can see why some early adopter might get "pissed" but hey, that is nature of the sales.

I mean I got Plant vs Zombie CHEAP (pre-order) vs some people paying 20$ or 15$ or 10$ is that fair?

What about people buying/paying full price for a steam game but go on sale 3 months later? well.. that is the nature of it.

I think players should be happy to have more player base.

Yeah, I got to say, I don't see the issue. As long as the folks who bought during the sales period got what they thought they were getting, fine. If Atari ends the sale period early, well too bad and a little egg on their face for bad planning, but they're not obligated to anyone who didn't spend their money in time. And the people who did are apparently getting exactly what they thought they were paying for.
