Guy in Afghanistan straps a vest on with explosives and heads to a civilian area. Apparently, the Afghan civilians are tired of being blown up by radicals. So they started pelting the guy with rocks & garbage. Okay, just rocks. Big rocks. Then bigger rocks. He's dead now.

A suicide bomber wearing a vest laden with explosives was killed by locals Thursday in eastern Afghanistan before he was able to detonate, police said.

The incident occurred in the Muqur district of Afghanistan's Ghazni province, according to Kheyal Mohammad Sherzai, a police chief in the province.

The suicide attacker was from Pakistan's Warizistan area, authorities said.

The people who intervened in the incident pelted the man with stones and slashed him with knives and were able to kill the man and give the suicide vest to police.

Perhaps this is a sign of change in the Middle East?

Who am I kidding... the Terrorists behind it will just send a death squad in to kill them all with bullets now.

That was not the type of stoned I was hoping for when I saw the thread title.

On topic though, I think it's interesting to see local populations start to stand up against these types of things. It seems like a step in the right direction.

Edit: Not to say that vigilante justice is a good thing, just that it's good that opinions seem to be starting to shift away from those spouting radical Islamic rhetoric and such.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Since there is no Nation State that can control the terrorists, vigilante justice will have to be the way this gets solved.

I'm not even sure I would call this "vigilante justice". Sounds a lot more like self-defense to me, since he walked into the crowd in a suicide vest.

Charlie would be completely against this. That man should have been taking into custody by the crowd and put in jail for the rest of his life instead.

Where he would likely perish from malnutrition, disease, or abuse.

I can't help seeing this topic and thinking the bomber got high and missed his target or something.

Then I remember what really happened.

I think we're missing the bigger news story.

What are people doing with so many damn rocks laying around?

It's a desert. That's really all there is.

Because women can't throw the rocks properly. They'd toss them all girly-like.

no, he's right.

Saudi Arabia and Iraq (etc) is the NEAR EAST, South Asia is the MIDDLE EAST, East Asia is the FAR EAST. It dates back to WWI, Middle East Command stationed in India moved to Egypt to fight the Ottoman Turks. They did not change their name to NEAR EAST command. So the newspaper dispatches were by-lined MIDDLE EAST COMMAND.

Meh, when people start including everything from Morocco to Pakistan in the "Middle East", the term loses all meaning.
