We've all dealt with weird internet forum drama, but this is my personal weirdest. I assure this is a true internet story. For a while I went on this forum for a web-series . Well on this forum there was this moderator we'll call R for now who's fiance who we'll call U who showed up now and then( I keep the vagueness cos you don't know WHO is readin) .

They would sometimes talk about their engagement, how much they miss each other yadda yadda yadda. One week however, apparently R and U were lesbians, which I found this a little strange since every time I heard U talk about R she said R was a man. Then a couple of weeks later, R was back to being a man again. This obviously confused us but like polite forum-goers(if such a thing exists) we just ignored it and let them be.

Me starting college, I staved off the forum for a few months. When I came back, R and U were gone. I asked around on the forum and apparently U and R were the same man! He logged in via both accounts and created this fake relationship for years on the forum. I don't know if he was banned for making a double account, or just left out of sheer embarrassment. I don't know if there ever was a U and he made up the persona to stay in the relationship, or it was all his delusion. Just sayin, I feel kinda bad for the guy. And people say porn is the weirdest thing you'll see on the net.

Everyone on this forum is an alt of JCM.

True story.

Except for Dave. He's just an alternate personality.

Yeah, people who do that are kinda off. Not sure why you'd want to spend that kind of time & effort making an entirely different personality just to mess with people. There's trolling and then there's sociopathic behavior.

There was this guy everyone looked up to, who opened up his soul to the forum and shared an embarrassing about peeing on a cat. :sohappy:

Then he took it all away. :fu:

You can never trust people like that. They're usually looking for attention.

There's a Calleja story in all this somewhere.

Or that one time on this forum when somebody's "next door neighbor" started posting for a while. Forget who that was, or why, but I remember it was ooooh lord, here we go.

One of my favourite internet dramas was when I used to chat on IRC. There was one guy that, for whatever reason, we did not get along with each other at all. Constantly bickering and such. This was on the #Halifax chatroom, when I used to live there. But then I moved back to Fredericton, still visiting the #Halifax chatroom because there were some cool people there. Yet the guy still kept bugging me.

Finally, I said to him, "Fine, you know what? I'm sick of this shit. Why don't we meet somewhere and I'll kick the living shit out of you?"

He agreed, then we quickly agreed upon a mutual location in downtown Halifax. He quickly logged off to go kick my ass.

Me and everyone else had a hearty laugh when I said, "Boy, I hope he's got a lot of patience. It's gonna take me like 5 hours to get there." I, of course, never showed up. Apparently he froze his ass off waiting for me.

There was that time we debated underage sex. That was enlightening.

There was that time we debated underage sex. That was enlightening.
Only because Icarus started the conversation talking about his 14 year old girlfriend. But she was very mature.

edit: Here's the post that started it all...

SeraRelm

So I know this guy who runs a forum, let's call him "Dave", who insists he has a daughter who sometimes shows up on the boards, we'll call her "Sammi"...

Think that was awkward, I remember I was on a straight up sex topic and there was a kid there who didn't know how sex worked. He learned a lot that day. He was also grounded most likely.

Here's everything I remember:

-That one guy asking on information on mail order brides: "For a friend."
-That stupid pedophile guy trying to justify his stupid pedophile behavior, as mentioned.
-Forum switches
-Fake murder thread
-Anything Mav's ever posted
-And a bunch of other small shit that was hilarious at the time

Also Neon Ninja was three cups full of lol

Invader wholly misunderstanding how science works was pretty amusing.

Also, that guy who absolutely freaked out on ZenMonkey. That was weird.

Forum switches for the most part have been forced upon us. The only one that was our (my) choice was when we went from Halforum to Halforums.

In other forum news I remember getting yelled at by like 40 people on the Megatokyo boards for having the audacity to suggest that Fred wasn't gonna follow up on the most minor of plot points in that fucking magnum opus.

Hey, turns out I was right.

I was on a board that had the opposite of the OP's story. There it was a woman posing as 2 gay men. Fooled a lot of people over a year. Then again not many people care about who is really behind the screen name and avatar.

The worst bit of drama, there was a lady on the board that gave out a lot of personal information. I think another user befriended her to find out even more info. Then called her boss and told him to look at her internet activity...

Yep, got her fired. The blabber mouth thought some one on a public forum just pulled her IP Address out of their ass and called her boss.

Ever get your topic hijacked on a forum? Like you made a topic, and the stuff they say isn't even CLOSE to what the topic is. And I'm not talking about simply going off topic, that's forgivable and can lead to interesting discussion. I'm talking about deliberately trolling on someone's topic just because they could. This is what happens when you don't have enough moderators for a forum.

Was he the one that got the pictures of you and howdroll making dickerdoodles taken down because of his comments? Anyway I always remember it as chaz and him that couldn't get along.

#41

drifter

As I recall, Mav got into a flame war with Crone, and Mav said something to the effect of "I hope you get raped." This is a second hand recollection though, as I believe I missed the initial kerfluffle.

The biker thing was The Neon Grue/Matt2.

Ah the racist rant. Pretty much proving that your either a middle-aged white man, or a 13 year-old white boy. I remember on the Newgrounds forums there was all KINDS of racism. Let's just say there was a King Kong thread and leave it at that.

Depends on the topic and what the spinoff is. I mean, we treat topics here like regular conversations. Sometimes they stay on topic and sometimes they veer wildly in another direction. Moderation ain't got nothing to do with it, unless the trolling gets reported and nobody does anything about it. But we can't go into all threads and we sometimes miss these.

And frankly I've been on boards with heavy moderation where off-topic comments are deleted and I think that they are missing out.

So yeah, we go off topic a lot and frankly I'm okay with it.

And just because you're a middle-aged white guy doesn't mean you'll be racist. I'm what's considered a middle-aged white guy and I'd like to think I'm pretty progressive. We try and keep this place friendly enough. We have our moments, but "minorities" and those from the LGBT community should feel safe here.

Same here, at least here it's nice. And yeah, the deleted posts, that has lead to some drama on forums I've been on. You never whose post belongs to an wannabe writer, and when it is SHIT GOES DOWN! They do no like being edited EVER and think every post they make is like the Great American novel. All you can do is sit-back and watch the fire-works.

I don't like being edited. Not because I think I'm a forum post artiste, but because it's intrusive.

I remember that too. There was some sort of whole argument about the horizon being some sort of heat illusion or something. Man, now I want to look up the Flat Earth Society and see what kooky hijinks they're up to nowadays.
