The Terrifying Team Fortress Haunted Halloween Special
October 29th - November 2nd

5 new scarechievements are coming to Team Fortress 2:
Candy Coroner
Scared Stiff
Ghastly Gibus Grab
Costume Contest
Attack o’ Lantern

They'll unlock Halloween hats. I can't tell if they're just for the event, or if they'll last afterwards.

Also a new KOTH map, Harvest, is coming. The map is haunted by "the restless spirit of Zepheniah Mann" who will scare any player he comes across, "rendering them temporarily helpless with fear!" There are also exploding pumpkins and corpses will leave candy behind.

Did the event go live? I didn't see the new achievements on the achievement board in-game.

I don't think so. There is one new hat that might be in the wild. It was a limited issue, and more people can get it by killing people who are wearing it, but I don't think anything else is up.

So if I don't play it this weekend, I won't be able to see it? Aw...

I saw quite a few people wearing them. I wasn't good enough to dominate any of them, though a number of them dominated me.

The event messages said some people got the hat, but didn't say they'd gotten the achievement, so it might drop randomly as well as earned.

So if I don't play it this weekend, I won't be able to see it? Aw...

Honestly, I have no idea. It could be the map will continue to have all the themed stuff even after the event, maybe it won't.

It's a lot of fun. I'm going to be playing a lot of TF2 this weekend, I can tell.

Small health packs have been turned into candy bars, and medium health are ??? something.
There are exploding pumpkins littered around, that periodically respawn.
The ghost wanders around scaring players silly. You can move, but you can't do anything else. (Collecting 20 pumpkins gives a paper bag mask.)
Players drop pumpkins full of candy when they die, and grabbing one of these gives a short crit boost.

I don't know if this happens on other maps, or just on the KOTH_Harvest_Event map.

I almost forgot, all the classes get a special new taunt. They do a short thriller-esque dance move:

As far as I know, the bag mask will only be wearable during halloween.

The Gastly Gribus (aka domination hat) will be wearable forever. There was also a giveaway event on the site, I heard, that gave the Gribus to a random amount of people (eleven thousand something) This leads however to the extra-ordinary situation of being able to have two Gribuses.

There is something seriously wrong with the event map... it slows my computer to a crawl.

5hrs last night, and for some reason I couldn't get a single Giblus. I'd get 4 kills in a row and ALWAYS get killed by them before the 5th. I was really off last night.

Gonna get home and really stick it out till I get my hat.

I finally bought TF2 yesterday. Steam had it for $2.50 for two hours yesterday. Haven't actually loaded it up just yet though, as school work's been crazy lately. So I may not get to see the Halloween stuff.

Or you could just ask me to let you dominate me. I have one and would gladly take a bullet or 5 for you.

Same here, I get horrible lag sometimes on that map.

I managed to get the domination hat achievement rather quickly, since I was fortunate enough to find a local server apparently populated only with newbies.

I love the candy-coated-critz! I want the concept to stick around after Halloween.

I've got all the special achievements except for attack o' the lantern. I have a hard time killing people that way.
