Team Fortress 2 Update Released
September 15, 2009

Alt-fire on the Sandvich now drops sandviches
* A single sandvich can be dropped at a time. Dropping the sandvich removes it from the Heavy
* A Heavy can regain his sandvich by collecting a healthkit while already being at full health
* Eating a sandvich using the taunt method now heals a Heavy to full health
* Dropped sandviches heal 50% of the collector's health

Medic regen changes
* Base regen amount increased from 1/sec to 3/sec
* Regen amount increase since time of last damage decreased from 3x to 2x
* End result of above: Old healing scaled from 1/sec to 3/sec based on time since being damaged (maxed out at 10 seconds). New healing scales from 3/sec to 6/sec

Blutsauger
* Replaced "No critical hits" negative attribute with "-2 health drained per second on wearer"
* Health drain stacks on top of the above Medic regen changes, lowering the base regen by 2h/sec

- Added a "Remember the active weapon between lives" option to the Multiplayer->Advanced options dialog
- lots of other bug-fixes, interface changes and other stuff.

So, if I'm reading this right, the sandvich got a buff, the medic got a buff, and the Blutsauger got a huge relative nerf.

What. The. FUCK?! It was hard enough to be a fucking Medic before, now the greatest tool we had for surviving an ambush (The Blutsauger) is actually going to ensure that we aren't going to be survive anything! This is pure bullshit... if you wanted people to start using the Syringe Gun, you should have fucking buffed that, instead of taking away what has become a core tool for Medics to defend themselves!

Seriously... there a times when I think Valve are fucking idiots.

You misunderstood. What Valve really did was buff the syringe gun, giving it now a passive healing benefit of 3-6 hps, depending on how long one is out of battle. The blut now provides 1-4 hps, which is still better than what used to exist (1-3)

edit (im dumb)- The update is currently borked. The blut, at this time, does not give you 1-4 hps, it gives you 3-6. The new health degen has not been added. Also, sandviches fully heal you, if you use the taunt or +attack. So that may be broken too, but who knows.

So, let me see if I got this right.

Medic regen's been significantly upped, thus increasing medic survivability.

The Blutsauger, when wielded, slows that regen down, though the healing provided by Blutsauger hits hasn't changed, so overall even with the Blutsauger out, the medic still heals more than he did before the update, as long as his shots find their target. Plus the Blutsauger now crits.

Therefore, the Blutsauger is now for medics with good aim, while the Syringe Gun is better for the "spray-and-pray" type medic?

WHOA!!

(I really have no idea what I was supposed to be whoa'ing over though, lol)
The heavy threw a sandvich up to the grenade-jumping demoman, in midair.

Think of it like a trapeze artist flying over the head of a clown, who then throws a pie upwards and hits the trapeze guy square in the face.

Heh. So a sandvich is a bad thing then?

Sorry, I never played TF2 lol *clueless*
No no, sandvich is a good thing. It's a healing item.
Meet the Sandvich:

Well, that's better (for medics using the blutsauger) than the alternative I thought was going to happen. I thought that the -2 health was going to happen even while under fire and not regenerating, thus hastening the medic's death.

That's the way it's supposed to be:
*Eating a sandvich using the taunt method now heals a Heavy to full health

I mean when you use the sandvich even without the taunt, just by clicking (using it normally), it heals you fully. But I haven't played for the past 24 hours, so I don't know what's what at this point.

And it seems that the blutsauger will still be used mainly for upper level medics, at least that's what all my friends in the beta have been saying.

And bhamv, the motivation for using the syringe is if you have a smart partner that you are in voice communication with, the syringe will let you survive a meatshot and a bit more pistol fire than before. With ventrillo lag, and even mumble lag, any half second of health is vital.
