Going Rogue is now out. And so it looks like I'm back in. I've had my fill of WoW for the time being, and so I think I'm going to grab this and head on back to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles.

My primary server was Freedom, but I have a cluster on Infinity and a few more on Triumph. (I need to get back in to see for sure where the stragglers are).

Honestly, almost everyone plays on Virtue (if your RP) or Freedom (if you don't). I'm not sure if I'm ever coming back... had enough of the devs not doing what they've promised.

Which promises have they made that they aren't keeping? I haven't kept up with the game for years.

And who are the "devs" now anyway? The old Cryptic crew like Statesman and Positron split off to go work on the Marvel Online game that was eventually canceled. There were few tears shed the day Statesman left.

As I remember it, the guy is a great visionary with no idea how to make his dreams a reality. Kinda like Kurtz, really. Lofty goals and no concept of follow-through.

Positron is the lead developer right now. Statesmen took the Cryptic name, left the game, and went on to make Champions Online when NCsoft demanded that certain quality of life changes be made. Apparently it "wasn't his game anymore" when Rest no longer took 15 minutes to recharge and soloing was viable for anyone who wasn't a Controller, Tank, or Scrapper.

As for the promises/shortcomings...

- Base PvP: Was introduced and almost all the parts are still there, but no one does it because they deactivated the Relics of Power feature and disabled the Cathedral of Pain Trial to get them. Has been on the "To Do" List for about 3-4 years.
- More PvP Zones: Haven't gotten one since Recluse's Victory, which was in the original batch when City of Villains was launched.
- A lot of features for the Architect system STILL haven't been implemented.
- Incarnate System: Basically, there would be ten more levels after 50 that you could do by using a certain system, but this was removed because it didn't interact well with the Exemplar/Side-kicking system. This was LITERALLY cut at the last minute and we have no word on if it's even being looked at.
- Praetoria in Going Rogue was supposed to be a 1-50 experience, but it was cut to 1-20 for time reasons.
- Paragon Cities Zones and Missions were going to be re-done to be more in line with the ones in the Rogue Isles (where getting around is much easier). The only zones this has happened to so far are Faultline (which became a City Zone instead of a Hazard Zone) and The Hallows (which had a level adjustment, enemy spawn adjustment and introduced someone who gives random, Safeguard style missions).
- Still no reason to go to Boomtown, as there are only like 4 missions that take you there and they are part of chains from other zones.
- Still looking for all that new End Game content we were promised.
- Still no resolution to the "Coming Storm" storyline introduced in the update that gave us Ouroboros and was continued in the Cimerora Zone.
- We get maybe one or two new costume options a year... unless your willing to shell out ten bucks for the newest "Super Booster" (One of which contains a feature, the Super Tailor, that should be accessible to everyone and was planned to be until they couldn't think of a special Science themed power for the Science Booster). I'd like to add that the Ninja Booster has a power that completely unbalanced the game, as you no longer needed to slot for a travel power once you had the Ninja Acrobatics (or whatever it's called).

There is a very clear correlation between the Dev team's desire to implement a feature and the amount of effort it would actually take them to do it.
