Latest episode is up!

Who else has loved this series for most of its time? I remember not really digging the first episode or two, but by the time Nappa made his first appearance, Team Fourstar really found their footing. Super Kami Guru is, hands down, my favourite character of theirs.

DragonBall Z Abridged made watching DBZ worth it.

Soliloquy

I never watched Dragon Ball Z. I'm watching DBZ Abridged. I'm getting the main meat of the story, none of the filler, and it's hilarious.

Am I missing anything by not seeing the actual shows?

A few jokes, but trust me it's not worth it. Mostly making fun of some of the older dubs, or other quirks in the show. The DBZ Abridged creators are clearly fans of the original show.

Not a fan of the abridged series?

Not a fan of having to explain, in detail, the differences between the Dubbed/Cut American version of DBZ and the actual series that is DBZ, for at least the 40th or so time.

Same here, Shego. Same here.

By the way, you would love how much Jet is loving the bits of Dragonball Z we've been sharing.

Also, I love the abridged series. Cracks me up.

One is in english has some stuff cut out and has a rockin' theme-song, one is in Japanese has the full story and has also rockin theme song. DONE! Not counting kai in this equation of course, fuck kai.

Loved the new episode, "Why are you naked?" "You can't take your clothes with you idiot." "I did.""What?""Even had my wedding clothes, I didn't even die in those.""That lying red mother-fucker!"

I live in a world where you dont' have a clue what you're talking about Frankie Williamson

LittleSin, Darlin darlin darlin... get those remastered uncut copies as soon as you can. It's the perfect way to go from DB to DBZ. English (true) dub with Japanese soundtrack? Yuuuuuuuuuuus!

Hopefully, when Steve starts his new jobs, we will have the extra spending money. Also hoping to sell some painting after my gallery show.

Nope, not at all.

http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Filler

And I wasn't saying that the Japanese version wasn't superior, all I was saying is that it's just as full of bad, long winded and unneeded filler as the American version. All because the cartoon was made at a faster pace than the manga and needed junk to fill the time.

So your telling me that it's not completely weird that Goku,Curirin, and Gohan have the same voices they had in child-hood as they now have in adulthood? I'm not saying their bad voice-actresses I just think it doesn't transition with the aging process. Yes, Luffy sounds like a child in the beginning but Mayumi Tanaka brings a gruff new sound to it. Plus seeing as how this is the voice we hear from him in the beginning, it's forgivable. Kinda weird how I find the voice-actress for Curirin far superior than the one for Goku.

Weighted. His weighted training clothes. "Wedding" doesn't even make a bit of sense.

All-ready did, I hear it now. I should probly get my ears checked though.

In my opinion, DBZ abridged is the best dub of DBZ. It's the perfect satire/tribute to one of the greatest long-running Japanese cartoons and manga EVER.

I'd just like to say that I enjoy the abridged series. As for the original series... I prefer Dragon Ball over DBZ because it was a lot more comedy focused and knew exactly when you needed to relieve the tension.

Also the fights weren't as drawn out, and the human characters didn't seem USELESS in comparison to Goku. "Poor Crillin, after the sayains arrived all the human characters just seemed weak. Except for Yamcha, he pretty much stayed the same."-Lanipator

I really liked the original Dragon Ball. It was fun adventure.

I remember GT tried to bring back the fun adventure that the original Dragonball had. Man oh MAN did they fail.

One of these days, I need to get around to watching the original japanese version. One of the only things that annoyed me were the entire episodes of powering up, which I understand the japanese version has scenes that were cut out in place of 12 minutes of someone going super-saiyen.

I'm 21 years old! Hell, knowing what Toonami even is constitutes as being an adult by now. It ain't like I don't know it was a flimsy excuse for slow animation, I still like it. It's kinda like a so horrible it's good kinda dealies.

Actually, for years before it wound up on Toonami people were waiting in mid-Freeza saga. It looped over and over on a different channel, and didn't proceed until Toonami finally got it.

Huh...did not know that.

Any-who, has anyone else read Journey to the West? The novel Dragonball loosely parodies? I have, it is craaaaaaaaaaaazy.

Journey to the West is based off of ages old japanese folklore about the life of the Monkey King.

Chinese actually, and Sun Wukong(known as Son Goku in Japan) was probably based on Hanuman. What I love about the series is how EVIL Buhda is. Guy locks Sun in a FREAKIN' mountain for five hundred years and the only thing he could consume was molten lead. Man I need to finish this book. Word to the wise, the unabridged english version is looooooooong as hell.

Used to air on my local Fox affiliate on Saturday mornings before the regular Fox Kids block started up (Or was it ABC? I honestly don't remember). I think I first learned about Toonami simply because people were talking about how it was airing on Cartoon Network. This was before they even announced the new episodes.

It's strange how I couldn't give a rat's ass about DBZ - I think I quit watching it around the Goku/Ginyu body swap - but I'm laughing my ass off at the abridged series.

Yeah Team Fourstar is a great comedy troupe. Even if you don't get the source-material, it's still freaking hilarious.
