Dell Conagher is finally getting the update he's been waiting for.
Loose Canon

Oh, this is so EPIC. Team Fortress 2 is developing an awesome backstory.

Anyone who finds hidden links, please share them.

(and, in case you missed it like I did, the Mac Update had a comic as well)

TF2 has a backstory? Who woulda guessed!

Looks like the Engineer's going to get a new gun, at the very least. Whether it's a new weapon or a new sentry is unknown.

Also, I'm guessing the Engie update will be a good time to get the achievement where a Demoman has to blow up 5 buildings.

He's already got a Golden Wrench, sort of. The weapon was included in the files of the last update, but isn't part of item drops yet. When it kills enemies they turn into gold statues, instead of rag-dolling. It also might be made of Australium.

Hang on hang on hang on

Mystery immortal one? It's not the announcer - her name was Helen, and the name of the 'maidservant' was Emily. Nor is it Hale - Saxton came from Barnabas. Of course, these could both be aliases but we haven't seen them hooked up on anything. Did Radigan build one for himself?

More related news: Finally the engineer update! This is so exciting :aaahhh:

Notice at the bottom of the will, he was giving one last object to someone for safe-keeping, but the name and description of the item was scratched out? I love a good mystery. :D

Okay, if what I've read is true, the golden wrenches are randomly created when you try and craft something else. Anything else, it doesn't matter, but there are only 25 being given away each day for 4 days. (Today's are already gone).

New Engie weapon revealed:
http://www.teamfortress.com/engineerupdate/

Frontier Justice - replaces the shotgun
50% smaller magazine size
No random crits, instead "Revenge Crits"
For every kill an engie's sentry makes they build up 2 crits, assits earn 1 crit. When the sentry is destroyed, the crits tranfer to the Frontier Justice.

Build sentry, and when it's destroyed, go to town with the shotgun. Build sentry, get destroyed, go to town. Build sentry, get destroyed, go to town.

I like it! The smaller clip size probably won't matter too much, you should be spamming reloads when using the shotgun anyway. And I thought Valve would've learned that "no random crits" isn't really a big drawback by now.

Random Crits are a big part of the Engy's power though, because his Sentry counts towards his damage, which increases his chances for crits. However, this new weapon will help Front Line Engys alot, as it rewards them for building disposable sentries. It's a trade off, but it's not much of one... and the ammo restriction is going to make Spy checking harder if more than one is in the area.

I prefer the pistol for spy checking, personally. More ammo and quicker rate of fire makes it easier to spam into corridors or areas.

The second day of the Engineer update is out. In addition to some screenshots of a new payload map, a pistol replacement has been revealed:

The Wrangler
Engineers can control their sentry gun directly.
Wrangler generates a shield that absorbs 66% of all incoming damage.
Doubles firing rate, and increases missile launch rate.
Sentry gun won't choose targets by itself when under control of the engie.
Sentry is defenseless for 3 seconds after the engineer switches away from the wrangler.

Sounds like this would be awesome for two engies working together. One builds and then controls, the other repairs/upgrades. Could be a very powerful combo.

Engineer Achievement names have been revealed.

Also, I think these links are new. Hidden on the page are:
Radigan
Steam Community :: ID :: WatchMaker|

The first is a picture of Radigan (engie's grandfather), holding a wrench that has spikes attached (and a beer mug)
The second is to a steam profile, but the link itself is the same wrench Radigan is wielding, with a note "From: Watchmaker"

An earlier hidden link I missed was:
Wrangdigan
Which is Radigan holding a Wrangler.

Another I missed was:
Radigan
Which is Radigan holding a Frontier Justice.

Based on those, it looks like the engie is getting a spiked wrench, and I guess Watchmaker is the community member who came up with the idea.

Oh, and I still think that the Engineer needs a six-shooter that can knock off sappers.

Uh oh... apparently somebody at Valve leaked the truth about the Golden Wrenches: They don't drop randomly, but at certain times. The first person who crafts something after the interval is the one who gets it. Now this is a big enough of deal on it's own, but it gets even better! Apparently the same person who leaked the truth of the Wrench drops also told some people ALL THE TIMES THEY WOULD DROP! You know who one of those people was?

Drunken Fool, creator of the Idling Program, TF2 Items, and countless other Team Fortress paraphernalia... and he's been banned for using a script and the times to get a Wrench. He's been VAC banned, which means that all of the games who owns via Steam may no longer be played online.

Lots of hate on the forums right now. Ruh Roh.

Another in the long line of problems TF2 has had with psuedo-random events. Except for the leak, I don't feel like it changed my chances of getting a wrench. Overall it seems like a reasonable system, aside from the fact that too many Valve employees had access to the times.

Honestly, I think it's just a problem of perception: Valve said it was completely random, but it wasn't. Random applies that everyone who made something before the quota was filled had a chance to win... but they didn't. Rather, only the people who did it at certain times did. It's not random if there is a special event that has to happen for it to work, and that those events were predetermined before the Update make it pretty clear that it's not random.

Sad. Drunken fool runs the SourceOP server that I played with. I know Drunken Fool on a close level (online), he's not pissed. He's already working his way around it.

He's already said that he has other accounts. It's just a shame that he's taking the hit for this, even after he offered to reveal the source of the leak for them if they unban him. It's not HIS fault they had a leak and it's hardly illegal for him to use the knowledge he gained from them. It's not even in their terms for Steam.

They do kinda have him for the script though.

I'm a little confused by some of the achievements:
If You Build It, They Will Die
Haul a level 3 sentry gun into a position that achieves a kill shortly after being redeployed.
Texas Ranger
Haul buildings one kilometer over your career.

What's this about hauling buildings? When was this mentioned in the engineer update?

From what I have been reading is you can pick up your buildings and move them. EDIT: Reading peoples reaction on the steam forums I should clarify.

Ah, okay, it's mentioned in this update
* Added The Frontier Justice.
* Added The Wrangler.
* Added The Gunslinger.
* Added The Southern Hospitality.
* Added 35 Engineer achievements.
* Engineers can now pickup & move their buildings.
* Added Engineer main menu music.
* Added 4 new maps:
o Thunder Mountain, a 3 stage Payload map.
o Hightower, a Payload Race map.
o Upward, a Payload map.
o ColdFront, a community built Capture Point map.
* Item tuning:
o The Sandvich now uses a cooldown timer, instead of the health pack recharge mechanic.
o The Gunboats now reduce self-damage by 60% (was 75%)
o The Tribalman's Shiv bleed duration reduced to 6 second (was 8), and its damage penalty increased to 50% (was 35%).

I wonder how long it will take to fix this bug:

Level 3 Mini-sentry:

Apparently if an engineer builds a level 3 normal sentry, and then switches to the Gunslinger and picks up that sentry, it transforms into a glitched mini-sentry at the same level and turns red.

Just tried some TF2 for the first time in forever, and played some Engineer. Got 4 achievements without even trying, in about 10 minutes. Looks like these achievements won't be too hard to get.

I also noticed there's an offline practice mode now. These bots aren't too bad, you know. They do tend to stand still though, which is something real players learn never to do when there're snipers around.
