Street Fighter hasn't really done well in the fully 3-D gaming market, not sure I'm looking forward to this unless they're going to use a well established Tekken style engine.

That being said? Kazuya would leave Ryu a bloody mess on the floor.

It's kind of hard to see some things, but here's some gameplay footage:

Edit: Same footage from before, but up close:

From what I've heard there will be two games, one with the street fighter engine and one with the tekken engine.

This is what I had read as well. Capcom is making one with the SFIV engine, while Namco is handling one with the Tekken engine. So each will be a new take on the other company's characters and playstyles. Should be interesting.

What is up with the broken robots in the background? I don't know much about any of the two series backstory, but they seemed out of place.

They both have android/robot storylines:

The Scan bots from Street Fighter Animated, the cyborg in the Street Fighter Alpha Animated, I believe Q from Street Fighter 3 was an android. Tekken has had a slew of them with the Jack series, and a few others.

I need to learn me some Street Fighter / Tekken lore.

Wow, thats actually really cool.

Side note: I really dislike the overly cartoony super muscle look the guys have there. I kept waiting for arms to just burst when they moved.

That is like 6 dozen shots on that one drinking game thing I saw based on people cheering like retards at very mundane things at Comicon.

Wow, team super combos? That could be awesome. Also, Jin Saotome from Cyberbots needs to be in this game. Needs. His MvC2 moveset looks like it would fit perfectly.

I'm pretty sure this is explictly a Street Fight and Tekken game, not company cross over. It's likely they will handle the general company cross over in the other game.

Yeah, I guess calling it SF x Tekken should have tipped me off. The one showed here is the Capcom version, too, so nevermind :x

I doubt I'd even play the Namco version, though. Never really liked Tekken-style fighting for some reason. I think Soul Calibur is the only 3D fighter I've ever really liked.

I love Tekken. It was my favorite fighting game since it was released in arcades. I was actually somewhat disappointed when I hunted down the videos and saw it using the SF4 engine (which I also like, just not as much), but now am excited again with the news they are making two games using both fighting engines. I really am curious to see what both companies do with the various characters movesets. It already looks like Capcom is doing a great job showing off the moves of Kazuya, so I wonder how Namco will handle characters like Ryu.
