The Golden Girls-Responsible for raging gayness?

Normally I don't lift articles from Fark but I came across this one and had to share:

http://christwire.org/2009/10/the-g...generation-of-american-boys-into-homosexuals/

According to this article (which, sadly, is not tongue in cheek-it's done by a Christian group) feels like the TV show The Golden Girls is single handedly responsible for turning a generation of males into homosexuals.

Quote: "The most unexpected segment of this show’s fanbase was America’s young men. In the 80s, these were boys too delicate for sports, too awkward for girls, too “artistic” for labor-intensive work and too flamboyant for peer acceptance in high school."

Well, thank God for the internet for rescuing this generation from raging homosexuality. Where's the facepalm icon when you need it? Sigh.

Well, hmm wow. That's something.

I read through the comments and I think it is a joke maybe. I mean I am confused. It is so ridiculous. But then again some people believe thoroughly ridiculous things.

I love the Golden Girls, I am not gay and I honestly don't see any connection to gay culture on the show. Although there were a few episodes that did address homosexuality and always in positive light. Some people get pissed off about stuff like that.

this is hilarious. just take this sentence

"Our horny, lonely boys sought out intimate comforts with likeminded Golden Girls addicts who didn’t mind each other’s theatrical voices and touch-feely hand gestures. Together, these clusters of awkward teens and twentysomethings bonded over their favorite episodes and characters, mimicking the voices and gowns of their tv friends. When the rush of cheesecake and gabfests wore thin, these hairless boys needed a harder thrill. "

i would bet literally all the money to my name that whoever wrote this paragraph was sexually aroused by it.

Crap.... I was actually a fan of the Golden Girls....
Wouldn't watching the show and ending up liking women kinda disprove their argument?

And i love these parts:
"Maybe we wanted to believe old age wasn’t dominated by infections and hip problems, loneliness and crushing depression before death finally stomps us out like the acrid end of a damp cigarette.

These were slender, unathletic children who were left out of the fun militarism of the Reagan years.

Personally, I do not look forward to the day when we’re having moral debates about robot sex, gay jetpacks or houseplant marriage."

You sure this isn't satire... not enough hate and too much wordplay.

I couldn't open the site, probably my internet connection couldn't handle the stupid.

But, never underestemate the human ability to crazyness and being stupid as rock.

The site seems to be having some loading problems (checking out other articles now, they all sound hilarious)... maybe we're killing it with increased traffic...

Oh man, that site is so funny:

http://christwire.org/2009/11/how-american-healthcare-killed-my-father/

If this were the 16th century and we were able to throw Obama’s administration into a river, they would all float. That’s because they are witches and mix up nothing but a spell of lies and deceit in their cauldron of political sins.
My friends, Obama’s worst recipe is his Obamacare plan. Under it, all senior citizens would be without private healthcare and forced to depend on government healthcare. Obama already let us know he hates old people almost more than he does babies, so instead of giving them medicine he’d rather just let them die.
That would give him and future Democrats the funds they need for nonsense like education reform and social welfare. Greedy sickos!
Imagine what school would be like for our future children if ObamaCare is passed?
Little do we need to mention that everyone would end up writing a treatise about how American healthcare killed my father at some point, because under Obama’s plan every old person dies. That’s just not right.
This is just a little reminder to petition your Congressional leaders and tell them to ban Obama and his foolish health plans.
Either the whole site is satire or someone infiltrated them... if this is actually unintentional then it's proof of the universe having some sort of sentient sense of humour.

It just has to be: http://christwire.org/2009/11/watch...-smurfs-online-now-13x13-christian-tv-review/

South Park Episode Dances with Smurfs – Christian TV Review
South Park is a controversial show that features some good characters who could teach children proper values, but it all gets sullied up by the liberal agenda.

In episode Dances With Smurfs, the target child audience is greeted with a disturbing scene where a gunman enters the school and decides to kill a child reading announcements. Tragic. Such pixelated violence explains why before they graduate, 58% of American children will engage in school fights and drop out.

The one glimmering ray of hope in this episode is Eric Cartman, the child who took over the morning announcement duties. In the fashion of true conservative commentator and defender of freedom, Glenn Beck, Eric Cartman brought excellent critique to his school’s bloated socialist structure that lost touch with the needs of the people.

This is much like the current situation in America today. Barack Obama is a horrible president who has lost touch with the common folk. He creates all these big bureaucratic offices where his cronies use our tax money to live lavish lifestyles, taking time to give billion dollar checks to corporate executives.

Why is Obama not giving billions of dollars to you or me? Why has Obama and his corrupt administration bankrupt the American people to only serve the interest of his already wealthy financiers and foreign godkings?
It’s because Obama is a socialist, and only people like Glenn Beck and Eric Cartman in this episode have the gall to call him out. This is a great lesson for children.

This was all marred, however, as Parker and Stone hate freedom and democracy. They want to corrupt our kids and tried to make it seem that it’s okay for socialism to lead to a future where a children will live in a Stalin styled dictatorship.

My friends, South Park is as dangerous as it is subversive. They try to lure you into thinking the show is safe by having Eric Cartman give excellent talking points, but by the end try to confuse your children with smurfs and communism. Deceptive!

Continue to forbid your kids from watching this dangerous show.
Warning: The following video media contains live footage of children’s television show South Park. Please first pray and then have any women/children leave the room before reviewing.
Moral Rating: S (Sinister) for…
communism, socialism, biased attack against conservatism, school violence, guns, cussing, genocide
http://christwire.org/2009/11/sesame-street-google-images-reveal-liberal-anti-american-plot/

Sesame Street has become a liberal show that teaches our children how to hate their country. They have made Cookie Monster turn into an unnatural vegan while Burt and Ernie are allowed to hold hands. Sickos.

What took the cake is last week when Sesame Street showed bias against Fox News. Mr. Rupert Murdoch is one of the most moral and upstanding people on this planet, and his company follows suit.

Now today it is revealed that Sesame Street is trying to corrupt Christian American company Google with a special page for their sick propaganda images.

Why waste money on trying to travel to the moon when we could be spending it on weapons to bringing freedom to all the lesser nations on Earth? NASA has horrible priorities and is deceptive, let’s pray they get shut down.

christwire is a parody site.
I hope so. I just took the submitters comment of "sadly, this is not satire" at face value. After reading throuthe comments it does appear to be satire. I've seen enough "Christian" sites that aren't parody that made me think it was legit. Fred Phelps anyone?

Damn, this thread makes me sad I didn't watch Golden Girls last time they were on :(

Oh well, it's like Wooster & Jeeves. It'll be back in a few years' time.

This might be a legit website, but the article they published is definately satire.

All of the images are titled "Golden Showers of Peril" for crying out loud! And the wordplay is too tongue-in-cheek to be real. I mean, modern butt rompers?

But it's realistic enough to be picked up by christwire, so satire accomplished!

Well it wasn't "picked up" because the ENTIRE website is a joke. The whole thing. All of it. 100%.

Chemicals in plastics alter the brains of baby boys making them \"more feminine\", say US researchers.
Males exposed to high doses in the womb went on to be less likely to play with boys' toys like cars or to join in rough and tumble games, they found.
The University of Rochester team's latest work adds to concerns about the safety of phthalates, found in vinyl flooring and PVC shower curtains.
The findings are reported in the International Journal of Andrology.
Plastic furniture
Phthalates have the ability to disrupt hormones, and have been banned in toys in the EU for some years.
However, they are still widely used in many different household items, including plastic furniture and packaging.
There are many different types and some mimic the female hormone oestrogen.

The same researchers have already shown that this can mean boys are born with genital abnormalities.
Now they say certain phthalates also impact on the developing brain, by knocking out the action of the male hormone testosterone.
Dr Shanna Swan and her team tested urine samples from mothers over midway through pregnancy for traces of phthalates.
The women, who gave birth to 74 boys and 71 girls, were followed up when their children were aged four to seven and asked about the toys the youngsters played with and the games they enjoyed.
Girls' play
They found that two phthalates DEHP and DBP can affect play behaviour.
Boys exposed to high levels of these in the womb were less likely than other boys to play with cars, trains and guns or engage in \"rougher\" games like playfighting.
Elizabeth Salter-Green, director of the chemicals campaign group CHEM Trust, said the results were worrying.
\"We now know that phthalates, to which we are all constantly exposed, are extremely worrying from a health perspective, leading to disruption of male reproduction health and, it appears, male behaviour too.
\"This feminising capacity of phthalates makes them true 'gender benders'.\"
She acknowledged that the boys who have been studied were still young, but she said reduced masculine play at this age might lead to other feminised developments in later life.
But Tim Edgar, of the European Council for Plasticisers and Intermediates, said: \"We need to get some scientific experts to look at this study in more detail before we can make a proper judgement.\"
He said there were many different phthalates in use and the study concerned two of the less commonly used types that were on the EU candidate list as potentially hazardous and needing authorisation for use.
DBP has been banned from use in cosmetics, such as nail varnish, since 2005 in the EU.

Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry were one of the best comedy duos of all time.

OF ALL TIME!![/QUOTE]

Further derail:

Like most Americans, my first exposure to Hugh Laurie was House, so seeing him playing a more hyperactive, upbeat, funny style was quite jarring. I sometimes wonder if Brits had a similar reaction the first time they saw an episode of House?

The first time I was exposed to Hugh Laurie was in Black Adder, in which he plays an incompetent and silly prince, so yes, originally seeing him in House was a bit jarring. Though I love House, He'll always be Prince George to me.

I watched House for nearly a year before some one mentioned he was on Blackadder. I never made the connection. But, it had been a long time since I've seen Blackadder. Then I was dumbfounded.
