The greatest brackets of all time

Eh, I've never been a fan of the whole "who would win" argument crap. That said, some of these battles are ridiculous. I mean, Q vs. Darth Vader? Doctor Who vs. Adama? Those don't even make sense, let alone a fair battle.

Some of those are just so damned powerful nobody else stands a chance. And is Neo and Morphius in the Matrix or the real world?

I don't know if it's a matter of "Who could beat up who" but more "Who's more of a badass". I mean, sure, Q is an all powerful semi-godlike entity, but on the other hand.....Darth Vadar? I mean. It's Darth Vadar.

Ed: Q is really the only one I find problematic really (if we're looking at it as a straight up fight). Adama vs the Doctor? The Doctor isn't invincible. Sure, he can travel through time. But he's vulnerable to a bullet in the face. And even Q, for all his power, usually has to play by a certain set of rules. Hence why, if it came down to Picard vs Q, Picard would probably win.

As for the Matrix guys....I dunno. Probably in the Matrix since Agent Smith is included. This is why I'm thinking of it more as a "Who's more awesome" kind of bracket.

Anyways, some surprising first picks of mine (I am surprised at my own choices, or they were really hard to make):

Sarah Conner > River Tam
Kaylee > Scotty
Ripley > Hiro Protagonist
Borg > Daleks
Darth Vadar > Q (but really Q let him win to teach him a greater lesson)
Paul Atreides > Ender Wiggin

and then some really easy ones

T-100 > Darth Maul
Wintermute>HAL (sorry Halforums)
Spock>Neo
Pickard>Kirk
Han Solo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Morpheus

And then there's the ....I have no idea.... category

Deckard ?? Mal

The Gallifrey Region is going to be the most difficult by far, by I'm putting Han Solo as the final winner......or maybe Picard????

Magrathea will either go to Deckard or Mal

Caprica will go Ripley or Hiro

Empire will probably go Darth Vadar, but Q or one of the princelings (Wiggins/Atreides) could squeak from behind. Really if Q doesn't go out early he will dominate all the way to the end, unless there is a Picard v Q round....I doubt Q would take Picard.

oh god I almost clicked that at work without looking, so glad I didn't.

ed: Ok I was sort of on board for the idea of this until I saw ME > Blade Runner.

That kind of statement will dissolve into fisticuffs at my domicile. GOOD DAY SIR.

ed2: Oh god Halo > Futurama. No sir, I do not care for this at all.

If we're going by -power- in the first post, Q wins the entire thing. It's not even a challenge. However, all polls/brackets are popularity battles and not really a judgement of who's the better/stronger character.

Necronic....dude, I love you and whatever, but....Darth Vader. Not Vadar. Once is a typo. Twice is not checking. Thrice is just wanting to test certain people's blood pressure medicine. :p

And how in Heaven's name would Han Solo win against Picard?! Psht.

Think of it more as a "who would I rather have lunch with?"

whoops.

I always thought of Vader to be the Radar to the Emperor's Colonel Potter. If Star Wars was MASH. Probably why I mispelled it......

He is superior in just about every way though. Still, it is just a popularity contest.
Kirk will fight dirty, though. Picard will spend his time trying to reason with Kirk and Kirk will just knee him in the groin. Don't get me wrong, Picard is my favorite Starfleet captain, but Kirk would win.

So the first round is over and the second round finishes today I think. Some really great matchups here. Picard is barely edging out Solo, same goes for Q and the 10th doctor. Mal and the Borg are literally tied @ 67 votes each. In an unlikely event Spock's cold logic is beating out the improbability drive. And in possibly the largest betrayal so far Ripley is losing to Number 6.
