The hardest decision of my life

Should I shave my head?

I'm faced with the hardest decision I've yet to make. Should I shave my head?

Over the past couple of years, my hairline has been slowly beginning to recede. This is exceptionally difficult, because I've always had a long flowing mane, it's what gives me my Samson like strength.

I was able to put up with my hairline being a coward, but now discovered my first bald spot. I refuse to be the bald guy with long hair. So now I must ask... should I shave my head?

If you're going to shave your head, you're also going to want to trim your beard a bit shorter or go with a goatee-type style. The bald with a beard look is odd, IMO.

That picture is actually a couple of months old, I'm too lazy to go take another. I've been keeping a much shorter cropped beard.

Yeah, from the picture it looks like your head is shaped well enough to totally pull off the bald look. But I also second what Wasabi said, you'll probably need to trim your beard down away from your ears some.

Nah, you just have to be the type of guy who can carry it off, like bad ass blues musician Albie Donnelly.

You can also go the Profeesor Badass way, doesn't have to be musician. :)

Me, I'll live through tose few years with a 6 mm-stubble on my head, the middle very thin. After that, like my dad and his dad before him, I'll sport some sort of old Sean Connery look, bald with a fringe of hair; aka I don't have the commitment to shave my head.

Honestly, if I were in your boat, I'd do it. I've always said that if I start to bald, I'm just shaving it all off and saving my hair the time.

Tell me you're not shaving the beard, though.

TELL ME YOU'RE NOT SHAVING THE BEARD.

I am going to be honest with you, and please take this as nothing more than an opinion. I never liked the long hair/beard/glasses combo on anyone. Especially when combined with black jeans and a black concert t-shirt. I think you'd look just fine with a shorter hair cut. No problem with the beard. You'd probably look alright with some kind of hair style with some height to it.

Not sure what your head shape is exactly like, but here is a concept piece if you were to shave your noggin'.
Also is there a way to upload things to halforums instead of my photobucket account?

I considered shaving my head once, then looked at my beardy face in the mirror and recognized: With my lazyness I would never keep it clean shaven and after a few weeks I would be where I started.

I wear my beard because I'm too lazy to shave regularly, every few weeks I trim it a little bit. Luckily I can wear a beard, my gf says clean shaven I look really shitty. Thanks, darling!

Oh dear, old picture. My beard right now covers all a proper beard should cover, the hairline has receded more and like I said, I keep it short. There's also more silver in it, or much less black. :)

:(

And no, the beard is staying.
I meant it in good jest, my friend. I say buzz your hair down to something like a crew cut and see how that works. If you don't like it, take out the rest. What you have left (which is still quite a bit) can always grow back.

I shave my head since I'm slightly balding and have random white hairs before I turn thirty. I won the genetic lottery. Also, shaving your head is really fun and satisfying.

ALSO it's like 'you can't fire me, I QUIT!'

I like this attitude.

And don't worry @ThatNickGuy, that video actually made me laugh.

But still, frowny face at my cowardly hairline.

I wouldn't cut it all off at once. That sucks. I had great Jesus hair for most of my undergrad and then looped it all off and shaved my beard. I'd say cut it shorter at first and adjust for a couple of months and then work your way down to baldness. If you keep the beard and shave bald, then you and @Shannow will need to meet up and have adventures.

Keep a short trimmed beard, but cut the hair shorter. Buzz it down, but leave a little on top. You're not going bald; your hair is simply retiring and moving down south to face-Florida.
