So good. News bad news here, guys. Good news is that I'm going to get a 200 dollar baby carrier for free, bad news to get it for free I have to watch "vaxxed" and they have to be there when me and the wife watch it so they know we aren't lieing lol. Anyone want to help me avoid having to watch that movie and give me a badass carrier for free? [emoji14]

Just zone out for however long it is, or learn open-eye meditation. Are they giving you a quiz on the movie afterwards or something?

I just about triggered today at work when a friend said her uncle was cured of cancer by changing his diet and eating turmeric. Oh and the surgery.

They want to help you care for your baby by giving you a stroller, while encouraging you to kill her and her classmates in a measles epidemic 10 years from now.

Evil, man. Like Batman supervillain evil.

I'll do it for $200.

The $200 baby carrier is probably manufacturer list price $200, and can probably be found for much much less. I wouldn't even consider it unless they gave me name and model number first and gauranteed it was new. Then check the reviews.

Free car carriers are generally worth what you paid for them.

Oh, and stay away from them if they say they give you a voucher or coupon that you have to redeem via phone or online. The carrier will be "free" but the "shipping and handling" will be over $40, and the car seat won't be worth even that. And that's if you're lucky - sometimes they'll make you jump through a bunch of other hoops and wear you down so you never get your reward. If they don't have the car seat at the viewing I'd turn around and spend my time elsewhere.

It's probably not worth your time, never mind being forced to watch a piece of propaganda.

My wife has the name of it, I forgot what it was, but it's still brand new in the box never been opened. And yeah they are supposed to bring it the day we watch the "documentary".... I think I just threw up a little in my mouth by calling it that.[DOUBLEPOST=1472902224,1472902180][/DOUBLEPOST]

The surgery was just to check to make sure all the cancer was gone!

Solution is simple; bike horn whenever the video makes a statement that violates the laws of physics.

Also invite a health insurance salesman willing to sell them vaccine free policies, for just in case.

Murder being illegal is quite inconvenient when people tell me that tumeric/garlic/essential oils/snake oil/etc will cure me.

Snake oil might cure you, if you drink enough you'll die. CURED! (this is a joke, please understand that it is nothing but a joke. My wife has Lupus and gets the same crap at times.)

It'll certainly cure you of any craving for tumeric/garlic/essential oil/snake oil.

You're not far off what an old weirdo was saying to me at my Rheumetology Clinic last year.

I am evidently cursed with my affliction for being godless etc. He offered to pray with me...

I was actually speechless!

What does your wife answer back with to the snake oil etc?? I need some better come backs :)

"If it's coming from your snake, I don't want any. I don't know where it's been."
I'm sure you can riff well enough from this general idea that he'll leave you alone.

She has an ability that I don't have, being able to tell someone off while sounding like she'll take their advice. Kinda along the lines of the very southern "Well, bless your heart! That never occurred to me!" type thing. I come off as more of a "Dumbass, she knows better than that."

Sounds like one of those "free cruise" if you watch our presentation scams. They either give away something far, far cheaper than what they promised or work it so you get charged anyway.

If you're going to do it, have some fun with it. Be those obnoxious movie-watchers who loudly comment on everything. Laugh loudly at the falsehoods and bad science. Heckle the screen like they can somehow hear you. Make comments constantly. You can get through it, have some fun, and get a (hopefully) freebie.

Just Statler and Waldorf the ever-loving shit out of that movie.

My mother was a nurse and just this morning, I called for help/advice in relation to some pain. Her advice? Eat at least one banana a day. WTF?

#25

strawman

strawman

I guess she could have said, "Take more potassium and magnesium" suggesting that she thinks your pain is bone/joint related and due to a deficiency in this area. This type of advice wouldn't be an instant help, but would take some time before it made a noticeable difference. There are those who believe that nutrients from food are better than those from vitamins.

I now expect a response along the lines of, "Thanks for your post, I'll give it all the consideration it deserves." (My personal favorite subtle backhanded response.)

I take a daily magnesium citrate pill and use 50/50 NaCl/KCl ("lite-salt") for cooking. Way easier than eating bananas :p

Looking at the average diet (and mine), most people seem to be running around with not enough intake of these two. Or at least that's the conclusion I came to 2-ish years ago--I haven't re-evaluated in a while due to settling into routine.

LOL, they are. Still smaller than the fish oil supplements I see at the pharmacy though, those look like horse pills.

You're probably referring to "Bioavailability." The argument is that most multivitamins (One-A-Day, etc) contain forms which are not as bioavailable as those in food. On the other side of the coin, since many vitamins can actually be toxic in large amounts, consuming large quantities of the forms that are highly bioavailable could ironically result in illness or death.

Please, please, please vax your little one. A free car seat won't do you any good if you're spending all your time in the hospital. Or possibly worse.

But if you guys have legitimate concerns, like a family history of certain allergies (I know they mention some people with egg allergies have to be cautious with the MMR, for example), then this is something you guys need to discuss with your pediatrician to see if you can split up certain shots. It will involve more visits, but at least the kid will be getting the protection she needs.

While I believe vaccines are generally good and should be used, I think the family and teaching children healthy relationships, including respect and honesty, has a slightly higher priority. Looking into the prognosis of measles, mumps, and rubella, it'd be an easy choice for me to choose my wife and family over a vaccine.

In other words, don't do it behind her back, because that will erode trust. Instead, try to win her over. You might try appealing to her emotions rather than using pure logic, since doing so may actually be more effective.

Certain vaccines are also a no-no for anyone with a compromised immune systems and/or on biologics.[DOUBLEPOST=1473272577,1473272373][/DOUBLEPOST]
