So, I'm almost done reading A Shadow in Summer, which is the first book in a fantasy series titled The Long Price Quartet by Daniel Abraham, and I have to say, I haven't thought this highly of a medieval fantasy series since A Song of Ice and Fire. It really has everything I loved about George R.R. Martin's epic series in it, including great characters, a twisting story full of plots, counter-plots and intrigue, and maybe most importantly, it cleverly skirts around just about every tired fantasy cliche, telling a strikingly original tale amidst a genre riddled with unoriginality.
Since the series doesn't seem to be very popular (the only reason I heard of it was throught GRRM's blog) I'm hoping to spread the word, and to see if anyone else on the forum has read it. If you have, how does the rest of the series fare?
