The Lovely Bones...

...is a beautiful boring piece of crap.

There I said it. I don't care if you critics feel otherwise. After watching it last night... I tried hard... real hard not to state my mind.

The movie only was interesting during the more tense scenes involving Stanley Tucci's character... and damn was he good. Felt convincing.

But the on and off dream sequences and the Mystic River like crying I had to watch for close to 2 goddamn hours was just killing me along with the musical cues... jesus christ.... almost two-plus hours of non-stop musical cues. The music never ends!!! It felt like a new form of auditory sodomy and my fiancee and I were the lab rats.

Please tell that other people feel the same way??? Right?

My name is Jay and venting in this thread was my idea.

I recall people on here taking a dump on it ... never seen it myself ... sounds like a not-so-swell time.

I've heard wonderful things about the book and terrible things about the movie. I have experienced neither. I'd like to at least read it.

Don't worry, we all hated it. Peter Jackson should probably just never direct anything not by Tolkien or not B-movie ish ever again.

Haven't watched the movie but I remember getting pissed that Ebert thinks that young girls who get raped and murdered should go to hell and that any movie that shows otherwise implies that men raping and murdering children is a good thing.

Really really pissed me off.

"The Lovely Bones" is a deplorable film with this message: If you're a 14-year-old girl who has been brutally raped and murdered by a serial killer, you have a lot to look forward to. You can get together in heaven with the other teenage victims of the same killer, and gaze down in benevolence upon your family members as they mourn you and realize what a wonderful person you were. Sure, you miss your friends, but your fellow fatalities come dancing to greet you in a meadow of wildflowers, and how cool is that?
...
OH SHIT, I THOUGHT YOU WERE KIDDING.

roger ebert was, is and always will be a shit ball movie reviewer.

bones sucked. did not need to be a movie.

Oh hey! I didn't remember that! Heh. I used to make an old English high school teacher rage by correcting his spelling too. He had a masters from Cambridge and a teenaged Mexican non-native speaker corrected him all the time. He wasn't very good.

Although I must admit that calling me a non-native English speaker is a bit unfair... I've been speaking English since kindergarden, I learned to read and write in both languages at the same time, and since 99% of the books I like are in English, I've always read it way more than Spanish.

I'm also annoying at correcting spelling in Spanish though, so that's just me being a twat.

I started reading the book and love what I've read so far. But as I was reading, I was trying to think of what the movie would be like and couldn't think of how they would've made the movie interesting enough... I don't think I'll be watching it once I finish reading the book. :p
