And the Oil have one of their best openers ever. It's all downhill from here!
Eberle's first goal was pretty sweet. Whatever else happens Oil fans can look forward to seeing what this guy is capable of.

Canucks start tomorrow and I can't wait.

Clearly you guys must have family members on those teams. It's the only rational explanation why you aren't joining me in chanting'

Go Leafs Go!

You're right. That and the fact that the Leafs are irredeemably terrible are the only reasons I'm not joining your chant.

Atlanta Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec collapsed during Friday night's game against the Washington Capitals and was forced to leave the ice on a stretcher.
Whoa. It was away from the play and only 2 minutes into the game! No word yet on the reason.

Hurricanes are 2-0 in Finland, and are looking great. Certainly better than we were last year at this time.

What is up with Crosby and the Pens this year? If they don't fix this soon, they are in for a long year.

Wow, Pittsburgh got completely dominated by the Leafs last night until the fight, when they finally found their legs. Toronto had a mediocre second half, but still showed huge improvements, almost every fight for the puck went to the Leafs. At times it seemed as if the Pens were just holding onto the puck waiting for Toronto to steal it.

Ugh terrible game from the Canucks today.

On the plus side I might never have to watch Rick Rypien play in a Canucks jersey ever again.

Cap management is really prevalent this season and it's only week 2! The teams that are successful so far are the ones playing 4 lines of team based hockey with a roster of average but hungry players. The teams with lots of money sunk into superstars are finding it difficult to compete with them because the speed of the game has increased to the point where you can't play 3 lines anymore. The cap hit that superstars are generating is also resulting in superstars playing alongside journeymen who really can't benefit from the superstars talents. I don't know how many perfect passes from Crosby and the like have bounced away from the soup can they have to pass to, but it's having a large impact. My predictions for this year are the teams with good management and average players like Nashville, Colorado, Montreal and Toronto are going to go deep in the playoffs.

Fixed that for you. I have a good feeling about this year.

Wow, NJ is a hopeless mess because of poor management this year. An embarrassment to the league and themselves.

This is why I was one of those in favor of dumping Malkin for a pair of above average wingers.
