So I am watching all of Supernatural because I have only seen random episodes and I got to the episode near the end of the first season with the Striga and I wiki'ed it and clicked some links and got this The Witcher novels which led me to the game.

Has anyone played it? Is it worth it to pay the $40 on Steam or should I wait for this one.

I liked the Witcher. It was a decent game, if not a little juvenile at times with collecting sex cards for your conquests.

The Witcher was an awesome game. It's one of the best western RPGs in years; if you don't mind being forced to play a mysoginistic jerk, it's great. If you want to play a true hero type, yeah, don't bother.

I've been waiting to get my hands on the Witcher for a LONG time. I just don't pay more than $15 for a game though, so I tend to wait a while to get something. Strange thing is, Witcher hasn't dropped in price when ALOT of other games in the $60 department have already dropped to $10-$15.

I've owned both the original (European) and the Enhanced (also European) versions. The Enhanced definitely makes some improvements but all the added and redone voicework in the enhanced version is soooooo lifeless compared to the original recordings. Which is really unfortunate since the script and translation in the enhanced is a dozen times better.

Blame Steam and Valve. The original price for Steam was $30. Valve raised it. CD Projekt who made Witcher admitted that they had no say in the final price. In Europe, you could buy both Witcher and the Enhanced edition for 25 euros from the day of release. Brilliant game and the fact that the Enhanced Edition was a completely free major update really was a wonderful thing.

I have The Witcher: Enhanced, and both enjoy the game and love all the little goodies that came with the enhanced version, such as a soundtrack, short story, making of dvd, etc.

However, the good news is that if you want cheap, you can buy the plain old normal version of The Witcher, go to the official website, and download a few patches that will change it to enhanced for absolutely free. The patches decensor the game (returning stuff like blood and nudity that was nixed from a few of the versions), adds in the new levels of the enhanced version, and COMPLETELY REMOVES THE DRM FROM THE GAME.

That's right, completely removes it. Don't even need the disc in the tray to play, no authenticating online, etc.

The game only picks up after a few hours. It's the one review of Yahtzee which is very VERY strongly disagree with. He slammed it without playing anything but the start of the game which is not as good as the rest of the game.

Also, The Witcher is one of those RPGs which is a joy to replay. The way you can make potions and divide skills is very sweet.
