My new bride and I decided rather quickly that we're crossing the Atlantic for 3 weeks for our honeymoon. We'll spend 2 days in London, 6 days in Zurich, 2 days in either Geneva or Dijon (maybe), 2 days in Lyon, 5 days in Paris, and 5 more days in London. London and Paris are already set to be pretty busy. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to do in Zurich, Geneva, Lyon, or Dijon? We're visiting some family in Zurich but the others seem like nice (and convenient) stops on the way to Paris from there.

Haha! I've been to London before, Ame, but I have a friend there so it is easy to cut down on the hotel costs staying longer there. Same with Zurich. I'd love to visit Hamburg and Finland and Barcelona and go back to the Netherlands again. There is only so much you can do in 3 weeks, though.

And it just occurred to me that the LHC is in Geneva. We might have to go visit CERN...

We'll get into Zurich on the 26th of July and leave on the 1st of August (probably). Got any suggestions on things to see?

What no Poland? Son, I disappoint.

Have a good time, though.

London's not overrated, London kicks ass. Who says you have to stay in London anyway, there's tons of English countryside to see that's a quick tube ride away.

I've been. It was the best part of that trip! This trip is more about visiting friends and family abroad and taking a liesurely train ride between the two places where those friends and family are located. There's not doubt we'll go back and see more of Europe someday...

From a sightseeing point of view, I recomend to get up the Grossmünster-Tower, you got a great view over the city from up there. Then also a trip to the Üetliberg, it's easily reachable with the train S10 from Zürich-Mainstation. There's a sight-seeing tower up there with a great view at the lake and the city itself. Also, a stroll around the lake-basin is really nice, although quite crowded on hot days. A round-trip with one of the ships on the Lake of Zürich is also quite nice, or rent a boat and enjoy the lake.
If you're into shopping sprees (and have more than enough money...), the Bahnhofstrasse is the place to go, or take a stroll in the so called "Niederdorf", lot's of nice bars and restaurants there and also some nice small shops.
There's also a small park near the mainstation called the "Platzspitz", in the 80ies, it was "world famous" for it's open drug scene... :-( but now it's a rather nice park just to hang. Just at the top of this park is the "Landesmusuem" which has some interesting expositions about the history of switzerland.

Nightlife... cannot tell you too much about that, because it's been a while since I went to the city for partying.

If you'd tell me what you'd like and expect to see, I could look up a few thinks, like theater, cinema, shows, musuems or there like.

I enjoyed London. There was lots to do. We took a ferry up and down the Thames and saw a lot of cool stuff. The street performers are really fun, too. And Parliament was soooo cool and really interesting. I took pages and pages of notes during the tour for my dad. :p Really, though, the most fun I had in England was in a small town, checking out these old ruins that went right through a farm and playing trivia in a pub. Also, I got to see Corfe Castle, and that was amazing. Once you climb to the top and look out, it's green all around. And lots and lots of sheep.
